    Default Metal Music Reviews

I am picking up some new cds, and I have an idea of the bands that I am looking to get. I've been reading/hearing mixed reviews about them. So I wanted to know from some of you that have listened to the Cds what you thought?

    Cradle of Filth-- Nymphetamine
    Fear Factory--Archetype
    Dimmu Borgir--Puritancial Euphoric Misanthropia
    Shadows Fall--War within

You can never go wrong with CoF! I haven't heard anything recent by them, but I have a friend online who sent me a ton of their earlier stuff ages ago. They're different, and I love it.

Cradle of Filth and Dimmu are Death Metal. I like the stuf but I gotta be in the mood for it. Fear Factory is good stuff, I have been known to play it in the bar on occasion. Haven't heard of Shadows Fall yet but when you find out, let me know.

i think COF are quite possibly one of the most laughably awful things i have ever had the misfortune to hear. that being said, i heard their newest one and it wasnt as terrifyingly awful as everything else i have ever heard. the new fear factory is okay, but if you dont have it already pick up "demanufacture" by them instead, that's a GREAT album. Dimmu Borgir are okay but i havent heard their new one. and i have only heard one song by shadows fall so on them i really can't say.

COF is not death metal. its gothic black metal> (black metal but gothic)
regular black metal is all corpsepaint and shit instead of top hats. OK COF does corpsepaint too but in a gothic way. black metal is norse (ie: norway and sweden) in tradition, very anti-christian. whereas COF is more gothic yet again.

death metal is cannibal corpse, malevolent creation, suffocation and stuff like that. more american than norse.

ShadowsFall is awesome--War Within and The Art of Balance are excellent albums, probably the best I've bought this year--from guys that remember that metal is about technical proficiency and that the solo is an integral part of the damn songs. And they have some finger-blistering solos, it must be said.

Fear Factory is OK, I guess. Don't much care for what passes for black or death metal these days, though I still have some old-school Napalm Death and Obituary CDs that get played once in a while. Six Feet Under is OK too. The dark stuff just isn't dynamic enough for me, generally speaking.

I thinkthey pretty decent,The girl is cool, she has alot of energy and writes some cool lyrics,I think she's very talented and seems like a cool chick.I seen them for the first time on july 14 of this year @ ozzfest and I was blown away,I thought the singer was a guy until I heard her talk in the mike between songs,I couldn't believe that it was a girl singing,I thought they were ubique because of that.

Demanufacture by Fear Factory is so hot, the first time I heard it I was driving around Chicago somewhere in the middle of the night, and had to pull over to really listen to it and write it down. I went out and got it immediately, and I never get sick of hearing it. I wish to God someone would come out with more of the same.

I have posted about it here several times over the last two years, but hey, it never hurts to bring it up again!

My girlfriend is now sick to death of hearing me brag about playing it for the rednecks one Race Week in Daytona, but those guys were eating it up (though it may have had something to do with Vanessa, the Essence of Sensuality).

It is the best of perhaps my favorite musical sub-genre, heavy metal/techno remixes (haha).

The Fear Factory album is awesome; just heard it when I went back to see my folks in Chi over the holiday and will be picking it up soon . I absolutely love anything from Cradle, and you should definitely see their show if you ever have the chance. I know everyone loves Dimmu, but I personally could never get too into their music.

I haven't heard the new Shadows Fall, but I wasn't impressed when I saw their show a few years ago at Milwaukee's metalfest. I mean, it was okay, but I remember at that time I was more interested in In Flames and picked up their album instead. Btw, anyone know what ever happened to In Flames? Seems like they just kind of dropped off the face of the Earth.
...and the day came, when the risk it took to remain closed in a bud became worse than the risk it took to blossom.
