Depends on the kind of club your working in.

From my personal experience, no. I have been dancing for 5 years off and on and most of the clubs I have worked or hung out in, pole tricks are not allowed.(Almost all upscale clubs in NYC) In clubs where dancers were allowed to perform slight pole work I always seemed to make more money on stage smiling and slowly dancing than the girl working up a sweat on the pole. Aside from the fact the pole is filthy, most men perfer to see a lovely lady slow dancing rather than watch her do pole tricks.

On the contrary if you work in Vegas where there are constant wild bunches of guys, the pole tricks do come in handy because it works up the crowd

and last but not least the Ghetto Clubs...if you choose to dance at a ghetto club, and dancers we all know what I mean by that,...you don't have a chance in hell to make a dollar if you cannot do a single trick. When I first started dancing I was hired at scores(this was way before my tattoo days) I made a killing at this club. No pole dancing...strictly air dancing on stage. I decided to check out a "ghetto"club and not that I am concieted but i would avg myself to be a 9, the minute i got on stage i realized I had to either start swinging away on the pole or do floor work. I couldn't do neither and I was booed off the stage. Anyhoot that's my story!

LoL... I used to work at a ghetto club in Orlando called Cleo's. Mostly Black dancers.. very pretty girls there. But your right thoes girls were working their asses off doing all kinds of tricks that i've never seen before. I cant do pole tircks but i tried to keep up with all the ass shaking. I think i did pretty good with that. I left the club after 2 weeks i think the girls were just working too hard.

It doesn't hurt your money if you don't do pole tricks. I've been dancing for over 2 years now and I don't do them. They look cool, but guys would rather see a hot naked girl on stage moving slowly and sensually. I think other dancers appreciate pole tricks way more than the customers do.

I don't know if it changes my money because I have always done pole tricks..

I know that all my customers tell me how incredible I am up there and that I am what entertaining is about, but there are other girls IMO, that entertain without it.

I know girls that make great money and they don't do a single thing on the pole.

Personally, I like to go into a club and see a great pole act but that's me. Personality is the key......

I don't know any pole tricks but at the club where I work the few girls that are great to amazing on the pole always impress the hell out of the crowd.

While sometimes the crowd is too awed to go and tip, the girls who do the really great stage pole tricks always seem to get a ton of lapdances afterwards.

Even if I *could* do pole tricks, I would utilize them sparingly, due to the fact that our club (and most gentlemens club environments) does not offer workmans compensation, and if you hurt yourself seriously you have medical bills + missed work (not to mention hurt pride). Even if you don't hurt yourself seriously, you've still killed a few good nights of work due to a bruised ankle or swollen kneecap.

I love doing pole tricks. Very few girls at my club can do any besides the slow swing around the pole. Most of the places I have worked at, the girls haven't been able to do a few of the tricks I do, so it is kinda unique I guess. I've been at this for about 10 years, and if nothing else, I can get a good workout on stage buy doing pole tricks. Most times the guys appreciate them. They hoot and hollar because it's something they usually don't see much of. I've also had many girls mad at me in the past because I won't tell them or teach them how to do any of my tricks. I had to learn it all on my own, by going into teh club early or staying late, so they should learn it on their own too.

A couple of my favorites do some outstanding pole tricks where the climb to the top and hang upside down. I know I like watching them and from all the other guys who crowd the stage during these performances, I'm sure they like them too. Gotta love a girl that can do tricks.

It only works if the majority of other dancers do NOT do pole tricks or only do the bare basics (like swinging around the pole and such). The only times it doesn't work is where 5 other dancers besides yourself can do decent enough tricks.

I say.. learn some tricks.. it can't hurt... plus it can sometimes make your own time on stage go by a little quicker and not seem so boring... then there is the fact that if you are the only dance that night that can do pole tricks... it makes you look damn good!

Pole tricks are fun to watch, but I dont find it esp. sexy, the slow stage work does it for me.I do like when my friend does em tho, cause then I can razz her about it after..shes still learning, and sometimes it dosent work too well. One cool thing is that when she tries something new on the pole, and ends up on her ass on the floor, she dosent get all shook up. She just laughs and the other customers seem to like that. That shes willing to try and be real about it,ya know?

At my club the guys around the stage are the ones that buy dances. When you do a few pole tricks it grabs their attention and they watch you. And then they want you. And then they pay you. In my club you want to be the attention getter on stage.

I think it depends on the club and the custumers. I personally think when the customers are not paying enough attention to the dancers on stage they help direct the attention to you.

I definitely make more money doing pole tricks. It works really well when there aren't many other girls who do them, and combined with slow, sensual movements it comes off really well. I do think it's good to switch it up though, because I used to integrate pole tricks with each stage set but I think it got too common. Now I only do them every once in a while and it works because there is always a handful of anxious guys pointing upward as if to say "climb the pole", and it works better that way. Plus, guys say that they like the strength involved and I think that's pretty neat.

I think it helps my money or exposure when I go up between a couple of girls who do NOT do pole tricks. If you have girls who do pole tricks up one after the other...it gets "boring". You don't NEED to do pole tricks...but I think it helps me.

It depends. I work in the UK and people generally don't tip with stage shows. However, one time we had a bunch of Americans visit our club and because I was doing a lot of pole tricks, I got tipped very well and got taken for dances just solely based on my stage show (a rareity for me). Although I do say this, I think that the other key attributes to making money from the stage are to smile and maintain eye contact.

I do pole tricks, but I always try to make sure they fit the music and my style. I also don't overdo it because I think it looks unsexy for me. Just do what suits you and you'll make money. People can tell when you are comfortable and being real for the most part and this can be your strong point.

Personally, I think a mix of both is outstanding. And by pole tricks, I don't mean flipping all crazy directions, but treating the pole as though it were the sexy beast you were dying to be with while making sexy eye contact like you are ready to burst with excitement, that's a great mix.

    Wow, this thread is ancient.

Pole tricks can get guys to the stage, but they won't necessarily make you more money. You have to interact with the audience--so many girls just stay glued to the pole and virtually ignore the customers until it's time for the tip run at the end of the set, and they miss out on serious opportunities by doing that. It's all about eye contact and connecting with customers--the whole aloof stripper thing that so many girls do is counterproductive.
