    Default Extremely dry lips

What do you use to moisturize really dry lips? I sometimes use yucky Vaseline, ew petroleum taste. But that works sometimes better than just regular chapstick. As of late, my lips have been extremely dry due to the winter weather, tanning, & not drinking enough water(which I have to start doing again).

^ Yeah, or use Grapeseed Oil before bed...while you are in the shower...I use it quite a bit. It's all natural...and the body soaks it up quite quickly.

Have your body's vitamin/mineral levels checked. Usually extremely dry lips are a combo of a few things. Dry lips are also a sign that you may be under a little too much stress...etc.

    Pamper your lips...

    This makes more sense.

I guess dry lips & broken out skin is good sign of stress. I'm also starting to break out a hell alot.

Tampa...where do you get the benzaclin?

Vy, I'm so with you. My lips have been peeling lately and my chin looks so awful and hurts so bad. I'm going in for microderm soon so hopefully that helps

Oh, for those who like Vit. E on their lips, Wal-Mart has a vit e stick for like 88 cents! It's great. I use it several times a day. Whole Foods/Central Market also have one but it's nearly 4 dollars.

    dermentologist..

I don't use it so much now, I now use it on the ocasional breakout
My SO uses the rest that i have left and hes says its a miracle too!!

I know sometimes a derm can be expensive if you don't have medical insurance, but its totally worth it to have clear skin.

I just get the 4 dollar bottle of the pure oil and that lasts me forever.

Don't lick them, that will dry them out more. Also what works well in winter, brush them when you brush your teeth, without the toothpaste, so after you rinse. Then good old waxy chapstick! Really it seals the lips. Remember the old stick chapstick? This stuff even makes lipstick stay on for a long time.

Get the plain kind if you try it.

Oh yes, I do brush my lips. But it's the point now that I can't even do that. I never had my lips this dry before.

I like that vit E stick, the natural one mentioned. Ulta has it, & Whole Foods. It's a yellow base, w/clear cap. You can use under the eyes, too. Chap stick is too drying for me. I don't like anything w/mineral or petroleum, it doesn't "breathe". Also I have a bottle of avacado oil, (pure vit. e). I put a drop on lips. Luv it on the hands.

Hell yes up north can be bad for lips in the winter. I get chapped lips in Florida. LIpstick does not help, it can't it has preservatives that only make the condition worse. Vitamin e, is ok i guess. But have you ever used it? It's very oily. Oils are not what is going to do the trick here. Vyanka needs a wax lip product. This sticks to the skin and seals it from the weather. The old chapstick we used as kids is wonderful! My lips crack and peel, it hurts. Then my mother (a joker) said to put EAR WAX on them...we laughed, so i bought that hard stick chapstick, no flavour, no colour, and coated my lips with it anytime i went in the wind.

I'm telling you it works! And you can wear lipstick over it because your lips are sealed!

i just found this thread (whoa, i'm behind), but vaseline is not going to moisturize your lips. petroleum jelly and petrolatum (the same thing, but with different names on ingredient lists) does not absorb into your skin-- it coats your skin temporarily, making it feel better for a moment by blocking evaporation of the moisture that is in your lips into the air-- but its a temporary solution to the problem.

i highly recommend getting a chapstick with vitamin e and jojoba and NO petrolatum (the good stuff won't be able to sink into your skin if its block by the petro), such as burts' bees (its got comfrey in it as well which will cool burning lips), and smearing your lips with pure vitamin e oil when you go to bed.

Calendula ointment works wonders for me, since I'm prone to dry lips too.

Try: Queen Helene Pure Cocoa Butter Stick, yummy chocolate smell. Low priced too.
Vitamin E capsules- break open and smear on lips, especially before bedtime....
Drink more water and eat fruit. There is no way around that one....
Carmex works wonders. I think its the lanolin oil.
If you're a stress lip-chewer/ biter, start wearing dark, yucky tasting lipstick to discourage the activity.

I just use "chapstick" it has always worked well for me. I hate it when my lips are chapped. They look so ugly.
