    Default College Transfer "Job Experience"

I'm at a junior college and I was on the website of the uni. I want to attend browsing the transfer requirements. I noticed they said that they want you to be employed while attending school, and I was wondering what I should do about that when the time comes? I worked as a secretary for this vending machine company for 1 year, but they went out of business, so I thought about using that information since it's not traceable, but I don't know if that's a good idea. I definitely don't want to say I'm a stripper... anybody have any ideas on what to do? Get another job while dancing maybe?

They want you to be employed while you're there at the university, or during the time you were at a JC? Either way, I have to wonder if they're going to check up on you. You could get some kind of part time or volunteer work to cover yourself if you think they'll be stringent, but otherwise you can say whatever you'd like. I have said I work for a party planner before, which can be freelance work and explain why you aren't in an office.

That's really interesting; as long as you can pay them, my school could have cared less about what I was doing. In fact, I'm sure I could have straight up said I was a stripper and it wouldn't have mattered one bit. God bless massive state schools.

talk with a guidance counselor. I have never heard of a school requiring its students to be employed.

That is strange. I'd call and see what exactly they mean by that.
The only time I've heard about working while you are at school is when you have to do those work-study programs, but that's all for financial aid.

That def sounds strange...I can't imagine a school requiring a student to be employed. What is this college you want to transfer in to?

It's UCLA. Well maybe I phrased that wrong... it's not a "requirement", but they prefer accepting transfer students who have the ability to work and go to school, so I think part of the application process is a resume. I wouldn't want it to look like I didn't work because it's a competitive school and I think it would look bad on my part.

I think that what they are talking about is if you haven't been actively in school full-time and are transfering to UCLA...then they would like to see what you've been doing. THAT is actually very normal. If you've been in school at all...then you would most likely not need to do this. However, if you do decide to send a resume, then if you do not want to disclose your stripping job, then I would suggest you put "internship" or "consultant" down for something. Internship is better as it is not paid and it shows that you are "learning the ropes" as opposed to the "consultant" which implies that you are "knowledgable" in your field. For clarification, I would suggest that you contact a counselor there or the registrar's office.
