    Sad Scared as hell!!!

Hey ladies. I just recently found this site and it already has helped a lot. My story: about a 1.5 years ago, i was a shot girl and, although I had a few mishaps, I got confortable and made some money (not as well as a dancer but money). Now, I have moved to LA and got a job at a club (I went in as a waitress but he hired me on the spot for dancer). So, the night I was supposed to go in, I got majorly cold feet. My bf is being really great about this and I know I want to do it but how can I keep for being so scared. I have so many ?'s. Like:

Do I have to put rub soles on my stiletto's (and where do I get those?)

I all of a sudden got real self concious about my body not being right. Do you recommend tanning?

Do you recommend waxing, shaving, etc??

Should I go to a topless club or all nude??

Anything else you can help with is great. Anyone....please HELP!

I would not expect to make much money as a dancer in LA. The nude clubs generally charge a minimum of 50-60% of your earnings; and sometimes more. Although it is possible to make more money overall working in a nude club because the rules are more relaxed. In topless clubs the rules are so strict that it is nearly impossible to make a decent living.
If you decide that you want to work as a dancer in this area, I would be very careful about looking too good at first. There are a lot of clubs out there which have very bad looking dancers who will pick fights with anyone that they are jealous of.
Check out www.zbone.com to get the latest info. about clubs that don't hire a bunch of fat uglies. If you find a club that hires mainly good looking dancers, who are not fat, then I would definately recommend going to a tanning salon. You can also start experimenting with wearing fake eyelashes (takes a little practice but totally worth it). You can take your heels into any shoe repair shop and have them put on rubber soles for you. This is a great help for someone who is new to wearing high heels on slippery stages. I would also recommend getting inserts by for your shoes. I got mine at Good Feet in Vegas. You might want to check their website to see if they have a store in LA. You also might want to get a book called The S-Factor by Sheila Kelley. She lives in LA and teaches exotic dance classes. Her web site is www.sfactor.com
Check out the ladies only section on this site for more info. on makeup, fitness, tanning etc..
About being overly self conscious about your body: if you find a nice club with good looking dancers you might feel very intimidated at first. Just talk to the other girls and you will find that they all have problems that they have learned how to discuise. I have a huge scar from a surgery that I was very self conscious about and I have learned how to use theatrical makeup to cover it up. You can learn a lot from other dancers about beauty stuff.
    Good Luck

Most people prefer to believe their leaders are just and fair even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which they live is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. - M Rivero

Livegirls gave great advice. I recomend visiting clubs to see what they're like- environment, girls etc to decide where to work. About being self consious about your body you could go to a tanning salon but using a self-tanner out of a bottle is more healthy- if you do a search in the body business there's alot on this. The thing about self-confidence I've heard is fake it until you make it- recognize the things that are prettiest about yourself and think of those. I haven't seen you so I don't know if losing weight could help you with money but some customers like girls that are a little heavier. I'm quite thin and I've had a couple customers tell me to eat more. Also look at porn stars they are quite meaty- a guy friend thinks it's because sometimes when you see more flesh you think of sex. Anyway I think if you just try to act confident that will help you.

Whats the best club to work at in L.A.?? Are there any club that emphasizes more on lap dances. Ive only been to the Crazy Horse in Vegas so I can only compare to this....I liked the fact that there was more emphasis on lap dances (sat. night)

Thanks to all who replied. I will take all the advice given. I have only gone to clubs for enjoyment so I never really studied how it all works. I will have to do that for starters.

    Thank you thank you.
