the burning feeling could just be nerve endings. I've never known anyone who after finding out their implant had a leak...ever had any pain symptoms before hand. My Dr. once told me that I'd know if mine had a leak if I noticed one or both of them getting slowly smaller.
My friend had a rupture that stayed within the capsule - it felt odd like little water balloons under the skin. I know of another person this happened to but they couldn't feel theirs. You could ask at these forums

Tampa, My left one still burns sometimes and mone are 5 years old now. Mine were like yours like my second week they burned so bad I paged my surgeon at 200am and he called me back and said it was my neves. He said I had tiny nerves and they were stretching. Someimes now if I lay on the left one wrong it burns bad and I think oh no its leaking but the implant never goes down. Also my friend had two inflations and they went small pretty quick like within a week. Iam sure your ok.
You know if you have any doubts or questions, please call your doctor.
However, it is very likely that the "burning" sensation you are feeling is completely normal and is from your body recovery from major surgery. If you had subpectoral implants, then the cutting of the muscle to get the implant underneath it would be another reason you are feeling the burning sensation. It's virtually impossible that the implant would leak without you notice a change.
You have to keep in mind that your body may take upwards of a few years to go "back to normal". You've had major surgery and that takes quite a toll on your body, but you've also had implants and your body is going to have to go through a "testing" period with those implants until it knows that it's not a virus or disease it needs to continually fight.
The odds of you being allergic to the composition of the implants is quite rare, but that could also be what is causing some of the burning...
Like I said...if you are concerned at ALL with ANYTHING regarding your implants, you need to call your doctor. There's nothing better than hearing an "ok" from someone who knows...
BTW...here is another forum that is good for implant info: http://www.allaboutplasticsurgery.com. Look under Breast Augmentation and you should find the link to the implant forum. A very good source of info from not only other women, but also doctors.![]()

they do sound like nerve regeneration pains. I had those too but mine went completely away in about a year.
also, in my left implant every once in a while when i move my arm a certain way it feels like a little water baloon under the surface leaking..
For example. Filling up a water baloon and putting a pin hole in it. The sensation you feel as it is slowly emtying in you hand. Thats what i think i feel and it is a bit scary.
I have been checking obsessively about one side looking smaller then the other. I think they still look just about the same.
also, the burning pain is the most harsh when i stretch (only my right side) under my arm hurts.
GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR...Originally Posted by tampafldancer

well, if it IS leaking, you'll know for sure by morning! I think what you're experiencing is normal, I obsessed over my boobs for months when I first got them. Nevertheless, go ahead and call your doctor and tell him your concerns. When do you go back for a follow up?

you should pm Melonie! she's gone through a deflation.

Thats all normal tampa. When are you going back to the doctor? Go on some web sites and read up on implants. You will see all this stuff on there. Mine feels exactly like you are saying. This can feel like this for a long time too. My freind still has pains in hers and its been 15 years. Their a foreign object in the body wierd things can happen. Just read up and educate yourself on them. You will be fine.
I had a friend who's implant was leaking. She had soreness in that breast and a salty taste in her mouth due to the saline being absorbed into her body...
Tampa,Thats suppose to be normal! I asked A girl whos hair I did today she said that's normal to have burning sensation afterwards and it will go away.
Burning can definitely be normal but, I need to know when your augmentation was done...
While saline implants can have a slow leak its not all that common...I would expect you to notice a size change before anything else if thats the case because a leaking implant is painless.
Your PS can't really do much to diagnose a slow leak. It can't really be seen on U/S or mammography.
Any other questions?

I had a few friends who have had deflations with their saline implants and it definitely wasnt compleltey painless. For some it might be but that isnt always the case.
Well, i think if i had a leak, i would have seen a change in size by now? The doc took the sutures out today, and the scar is so tiny and thin. I was amazed!
Well maybe the cause for the deflation wasn't painless...like that airbag deploying or falling off your jetski...but the deflation itself shouldn't be painful.
I agree, tampa, if you had a leak you'd see a size difference.

The cause was a leak from the valve. Doesnt sound like that made it painful.

A slow leak is definitely going to create the symptoms of one breast losing size, and folds and ripples from the implant bag becoming more apparent through the skin. I had a deflation several years back and never experienced a burning sensation - that feeling is usually related to nerve ending activity.Originally Posted by Plastics Doc

My doc told me, and I've read elsewhere, that the nerve endings healing can cause a burning sensation and it can last weeks or sometimes months. I had some burning and weird feeling especially where the feeling was coming back in a small section that was numb for a while. And I've had some odd water balloony feelings now and then, no biggie. My boobs are still very much alive and well. Heh, after about a month I SWORE I had a leak and called my doc all frantic, they reassured me it was unlikely but we'd know in a day or so. Those implants are not as fragile as we tend to think![]()
yes, they are not leaking. i am sure..
Im so happy i went through with the surgery!! Thanks for everyone's support~~!!!

I had some burning post-op ... it was nerve regeneration. I have unders.
My breasts were always real sensitive, after implants they are even more so! Constant NHO! (nipple hard on)I'm not complaining!
Give 'em some time ...![]()
