Thumbs up The Removable Pole - My Review

So I bought the Platinum Stages Removable Pole. It looks good. And no, you can't make this one at home. You can't go to The Home Depot and find parts to replicate it. It's made very well. The tension mechanism is awesome. It's sturdy enough for twirling. Though, the package insert says:

"For your own safety never invert your body or swing from the Platinum Pole."

    WTF?

I called customer service about this. She said that it's just a disclaimer (like the kind you find on cigarette packs?). I could make it even sturdier by using 2 small nails (no drilling or bolting involved) and securing the top part. She said she does all sorts of crazy tricks on hers and that I should be fine.

I weigh about 100 lbs (Don't hate me yet - I'm short too!) so I am not worried about going upside down. If you weigh 150, then I don't know.

It says that "it is not designed to support weight excess of 200 lbs." Even with my engineering backround (Yes, I have a B.S.), I don't know what that means because when you do tricks, you put a lot more force on the pole than your weight alone.

I must admit that I wish I had gotten the stage because it looks super sturdy and the current price is excellent ($369). But, the removable pole *is* more convenient. I can take it down on short notice and my ceiling and floor will not get all f*ked up.

Oh great ! Thanks for the review as I was hoping to hear some first hand experiences on this item.

Do you have any problems or issues with the floor base ? It looks a bit big.

No problems at all! I was worried about the same thing. The base height is about 2 3/4" and its radius is about 2 3/4". To me, that's really small.

All of 2 seconds to take down. To put it up, it's about 20 minutes for me because the pole must stand straight. It almost seems like a 2-person job.

I definitely will. It won't be for a while because I'm in the middle of moving and right after the last box is shoved into my new place, I'm heading out for a 3-week vacation.

The new place has 9' ceilings, too tall for my pole. Customer service seemed a little huffy when I called and asked about an exchange. I'd lose about $100 in shipping and restocking fees. I scratched that idea, went to Lowe's, and looked at materials for a platform. Bricks, lumber, rubber lining, and *NO* tools are all that I need to make a sturdy stage for my pole. $40

I still wish that I had bought the Platinum Pole/Stage, but oh well, it all worked out.

Couldn't you have an extension for it? Or is there another room in the new place that has a lower ceiling?

Sounds like a good buy...I'm still trying to decide if I want to buy one. I like the fact that it can be brought down with a few turns of a screw as opposed to removing a flange and leaving some holes in your ceiling...

    Still thinking...
