    Default Newbie Over Thirty

I am interested in getting into the biz and I want to know if it is still possible. I am 33 but no one EVER guesses my real age. I am 5'3" 120lbs. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about getting started from scatch?

There are a couple of very successful over 30 and even over 40 dancers at my old club. One is even a grandmother. Quite a few of these ladies have been dancing for several years, and some have just started. Most work night shift, although I would suggest that you try a day shift to start out. Days can be a hard shift due to low customer volume, but a great spring board to learn the hustle as well as perfect your stage show and gain confidence.

Go to the clubs you are interested in and check them out. Ask for a tour and find out how things work. Most important of all, believe in yourself. One dancer I know in her 40s who started in her 40s said she wished she knew about the business a long time ago, as she is very successful.

The sexiest woman I EVER w--ked with in a club was in her late 30's. She had teenage daughters, and looked ABSOLUTELY great. I had to spend $5900 to get the boobs God gave her naturally!

Hers was a VERY interesting story. She was married to a successful business guy and lived w-a-a-a-y out in the 'burbs. Typical suburban housewife.... teenage girls had NO idea that Mom was a dancer. She was just absolutely fascinated with dancing and her husband was turned on by her getting it out of her system. So..... one night a week, she came into town (Phoenix) and danced her ass off. She told me her daughters thought she was in town taking a class.

    ANYWAY.... go for it!!!!

uh. 33 is not old. If you look good, you look good.

Do you look good? Post a few pics so we can see.

I agree... 33 isn't old anymore... especially if you don't look too weather beaten (as such). Even if you don't look 33... do not deny your age when in the club with patrons. You wouldn't believe how many love it that you are older... not all the patrons are "into" dancers who are under 24 years of age.

Your age is an asset not a liability. Go for it

Lotta over 30 dancers around. I'd advise an over 30 to get started the same way as a younger girl. Only real difference is you might find it more physically challenging as a newbie than a younger girl would. But to repeat MrHyde: if you look good, you look good.

Lots of advice around here, esp in the newbie section, about getting started. Use the search function at the top of the page and also browse the newbie section. Good luck!

Go for it! I didn't get into this until I was 29. I think there are some advantages to being older too - you just have more life experience which can work to your advantage, especially when dealing with difficult people (-:
It's probably a good idea to go check out some of the clubs in your area so you get an idea of what to do, what to wear, how the clubs work etc. Then just apply for a job. Not sure how it works there - here you just rock up to a club and ask. Good luck!!!

Jumblies is 29 and just starting out. She looks young, and has a great body which doesn't hurt. She also has plenty of attitude and personality. After just a couple weeks she's already had numerous compliments such as "Best looking woman in the place", etc., so age is not even a factor. Just go out there and be confident.

Thanks to all of you for the encouragement. I am going to go for it. Mr Hyde I will try to get some pics up by the weekend. Can anyone suggest the best club to start out in? Someplace preferably in San Francisco or Sacramento. First I have to master walking in those 6 inch heels so I dont make a total arse out of myself by falling. Thanks again for the kind words.

I just turned 33 this past summer and I started out about 7 months ago. I say go for it. Age shouldn't be a deterant.

Some of my favorite dancers are over 30.

I'm 35 and came out of an 11 year retirement from the biz 3 weeks ago. I've got more young hotties chasing me than I can shake a stick at. I seem to be very popular with the under 30 boys. I agree...if you look good, you look good. The big difference is that I used to be able to work two 8 hour shifts back to back, and now I can't anymore. It's just too hard on me. But as for looks, I look better than I did when I was 24. I'm leaner and more sculpted, bought myself a beautiful new rack, have better people skills, and I also don't drink or do drugs anymore, so I am a better employee in general. Do your thang girl.
