i have never worked in a club with a "padded" tiprail either. sounds wierd to me. i see the purpose it would serve, but i have never seen one, ever. and i have been doing this for almost 12 years.
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.
A padded tiprail, that would be tight!!!
If you no longer have it, just make sure that you collect the money after each customer has deposited as much as you can I guess.....the few clubs I've worked with a tip rail, I just made sure that I knew the song well enough to know that the last 30 seconds, I would just walk around and grab the tips from stage....

padding huh that would be cool...our stages are just a straight up wooden platform with a metal rail all the way around..there is nowhere for drinks or anything
Padded tip rails/stage edges must be a midwest thing as alot of clubs here have them. Also they have a drink ledge but its usually 6-8 inches below stage level. I can't imagine having a drink ledge only ONE INCH below stage level. I bet alot of drinks get kicked over there.
Flat stages usually have a brass rail inset 6 inches to seperate dances from drinks.
Insurance regualtions used to require a rail or buffer pad of some sort but that has changed in recent years. The flat NO Rail look is considered more modern and is also cheaper so get used to it.

what is this "tip rail" that you speak of?? haha... I've never had the luxury. AND padded?? girls, we are getting screwed here... my knees have to take a daily beating on the stage surface.![]()

In order to prevent customers from being sneaky, you girls should all begin wearing garters. Put it around your thigh, and everytime a customer tips you on stage, put the money in your garter. If you want to keep him from being touchy, dance a little further away from him on the stage. Or simply tell someone when they try to do something that makes you uncomfortable..."Hey, don't do that please"
Another tactic I've seen in the club I frequent is for dancers to take the tips from customers (either from the rail or from a garter, etc.) and casually toss the bills towards the middle or back of the stage. This puts them out of reach of sneaky customers, but they don't have to worry about dancing with a wad of bills stashed all over their garter. At the end of their time on stage they quickly collect the bills and leave. Of course, that only works if you are alone on stage...Originally Posted by Brittany

Yup, a quick kick works well. Helps get them all centrally located too.Originally Posted by DeepGreen
Never have I been to a club that has rails. Or drink ledges. Customers just throw bills on stage in front of their seats, which are hard to receive gracefully. Some girls make it seem like they are picking up random bits of trash from the floor. Which is why the gentle and subtle "push-to pile" move is great.

I don't have a tip rail in my club.
Tip rail, what are those? I think the only place that may have had one...don't really remember...is Crazy Horse in Myrtle Beach, SC.

I use the term "tip rail" to describe the perimeter of the stage. In some cases there is an actual rail, in some cases a raised area of about 1-2" around the perimeter which is sometimes padded or carpeted.
In most cases I've seen nothing, except for the drink ledge. One club here has an actual rail, and I believe Bazooka's in Kansas City does as well.
Perhaps this would best be illustrated with pictures:

This seems to show a "padded" tiprail (not up front, look back towards the wider part of the stage)

My club has a flat stage and a drink rail about 6-8 inches below it. we have a very large long main stage with 3 poles so we cant put our money somewhere on stage. i wouldnt anyways. we all wear garters, most of us wrap it around our ankle, because its tighter and most of us wear 2, this way money rarely if ever has a chance to fall out. we put the garter around our ankle first then cross it and put it around our shoe so its kind of like an 8, with the bottom of the 8 tightly around your foot and shoe. ive worked with tip rails once and i loved it then, now i find it a pain, its just something in my way. love it with out! check out what my clubs stage looks like at *but im not on there*
I thought at first you meant to kick the customer trying to steal! LOL, I kicked someone that grabbed money off my stage last weekend. I warned him, and he did it again, looked at me and said "What you got?" I replied, "More than you!"Originally Posted by hardkandee
Oh, and at my first club, we did have a padded tip rail, not sure if they still do. Having worked at many clubs where stage is not even 1/4 of my income, I prefer folks don't sit at my stage. I just like to do my set and not be interrupted by some guy who thinks $1 is a pot of gold and then complains if I don't give him a "good" dance.![]()
Ha! In the good ol' UK, most folks don't even know what a tip is, never mind a tip rail! I think when Spearmint Rhino first started here, they constructed tip rails by most of their stages. It was nice, but it's still rare and even rarer to get people to tip at them.

my club doesnt hagve em, ive danced where they do and yes there is more of a chance of a guy getting handsy but they tend to like the view better. i prefer it without them.
Carpe Diem!
My club has a long runway style stage so I don't like to just leave money on the floor. Too many losers out there who would snatch back a dollar so they could give it to you again! I loop it around my left middle finger, waitress style. I don't wear a garter so that's out. Also, in Detroit, we don't really dance for the customers to take a tip. I've been to other states where the dancer has to give the customer a mini dance from stage to collect a tip. Here we are collecting the tip more as an approval of the stage show we are already doing. I hold the front of my g-string with my left hand (to prevent any inadverdant peeking) and pull out the right side strap of my g-string to collect the tip. I also always smile, say thank you, and give them a little kiss on the cheek. Let's them get a whiff of the vanilla perfume oil I wear and gets me dances more often than not.Rails would get in the way of that and I like to get more personal and less off in my own world while on stage.
Wow, I've never seen a tip rail until those pictures. I always slip my tips in my purse even when I'm onstage, I don't always trust the other dancers. Plus I had a young guy tip me and when he walked away I realised he had tricked me, instead he pulled out all my tips...which is why I slip them in my purse ASAP.
