Default Things you own, thanks to dancing.

What do you own, or bought since you started dancing, that you may not have been able to buy other wise?

A whole mother load of books and tapes plus one seminar all to help me out in re: my Financial Literacy. Rich Dad, Poor Dad was the start.... and I just kept buying.. and buying. The one seminar I attended was by Ed Burton... someone I definate respect and trust. He has the experience and all the qualifications.

Being a member of Ed Burton's Gold Club. This enables me to learn about all the hot spots.. basically.. "be in the know"... whilst I have yet to really benefit from this club... I know it will be of use to me in the very near future. I don't plan on giving up my membership.

Investing just over $10 K in a "tax effective" investment. It will pay-out in a couple of years time and then again in approx. 15 years from that time. Whilst I realise now it wasn't such a crash hot thing to do... it was a very valuable lesson learnt. It is thanks to this little investment that I "got my arse into gear" and increased my Financial Literacy.

Going to Las Vegas for a 5 night holiday (okay business trip with perks LOL) and being able to attend the Dancer Wealth Seminar.... well.. okay.. being able to go back to Las Vegas as an adult by myself was something I have been wanting to do ever since I first visited Las Vegas (as a minor).

What about things I dont own thanks to money I gave to dancers....which has become a bit more now that I've come to know some personally, and reading the posts of the girls on here. I used to tip crappy in a restaurant till I married a waitress, too. I've grown, become wiser...and poorer...Thanks girls !!!!
Now I've had to settle for a Porsche and a Hummer instead of 2 Ferraris...(marching my lyin' ass off to my 12 year old van and back to work)

My little bitty house on three beautiful acres. A 2004 Toyota Tacoma that I got under blue book right after the 05's came out (well, to be fair, I own half of it). An education. My little sister's education. My investments.

My boobs, several designer shoes and handbags, my investments. Fun vacations and their memories too, perhaps? That's not a tangible object, but important to me still.

I would have loved to have bought a house, but since I keep wandering around I still haven't settled on a place. Since the average apartment price in NYC recently hit $1 million, I don't think I'll be buying here anytime soon.

i know this isn't something that money can buy, but i feel like i own my body more than i ever did before i danced. i have always had body image issues, and having people tell me a thousand times a night that i'm hot and pay me to get naked finally drove home that boyfriends and friends have never been able to-- that i actually am attractive and there's nothing wrong with my body. these are strangers who have no reason to be nice to me-- there's a bunch of other girls in the club-- and they ask me for dances.

    and that really kicks ass.

I think I own fewer things, thanks to dancing.

I'm trying to be more careful, though.

    well, let's see ...

    on the "plus" side"
    - my son's college education
    - a house in the 'country' outside of NY
    - a practically brand new Subaru WRX
    - a safe full of gold bars, stock certificates etc.

    on the "minus" side
    - a direct phone line to an attorney and accountant
    - boobs bigger than my head
    - untold thousands of dollars worth of costumes, shoes etc.

    Great post!

Paid off my Chevy Malibu, breast implants, laptop computer, private school - gymnastics - dance for my daughter (music and piano soon), classes and seminars, started investing for retirement and started a mutual fund, printer, hot body from dancing so much!, organic food (more expensive than regular), mole removals.

Getting soon: bed, bookcases, pictures, leather couch (I don't have any furniture), more investments, more classes and seminars, laser hair removal for underarms and bikini area, nose job if I can get myself to spend the money on it!

Experience (traveled pretty much every other month for 2 years when I started)
Fantastic mattresses for my bed that were made by hand the day they were delivered to me (oooh love my bed!)
Fantastic clothes and purses (I am a fashion junkie)
Numerous things I buy for my Mom every time I get the chance (she doesn't have much $$)

I don't have a license, so a car is out (for the moment), and I hate where I live, so buying a house is silly.
Eventually, I want to buy a house, though. A beautiful old Victorian in the South. Hence why I'm actually learning to save my $$.

It gave me piece from my family. They cried poor all the time, said there wasn't enough for my school. Even something that wasn't my problem would somehow get taken out on me. I got an apartment, all my furniture, food, school, etc. So less fighting with the family, and hearing people cry poor.

I just bought this. I'm soooooo happy. I own 20% of it.

I also got veneers and a Lexus that I wouldn't have gotten if not for dancing. I also "bought" myself out of debt, which probably would have happened the hard way without dancing. This job has provided me many opportunities to not only get caught up, but get ahead. I'm really proud of myself!

Emily, thats a nice house. Reminds me of "Ginger's Bread House" from G-String Divas.

Rose, I know you loved shoes but 300 pairs? You could open your own store. Two words for you "Imelda Marcos" Google it!

Wow, well I don't make nearly as much as you all (Damn Midwest!), but I have started to pull myself out of debt-2 CCs paid off, 4 more to go, I have my own apt (which is great after 8 years of roommate having) and an almost new car (2001). I've been starting to hit a good groove, as well as implement Dancerwealth techniques, so I may have even more to be happy about soon!

Great post!! Let's see...buying my house 2 1/2 years ago tops the list of financial accomplishments. I still stand in the middle of it and look around and think "It's MINE!!!" I loooooove that. Also the best feeling in the world is knowing I did it all by myself. The very best thing dancing has given me is the ability to be on my own. I didn't have to stay in a stressful, unhealthy situation with my ex-husband because I had no choices. I made it out on my own before and after him. I'll continue to make it on my own because of the confidence this has given me as well. Goes back to the "priceless" thing. It's not exactly financial but very tangible. At least in my head!
