Awww, sorry, dear. Do you have any pain pills? I hope you feel better soon.

Ouch, does sound painful. Hope you heal fast & well. And keep us updated.
Ah, the racoon look. Can you actually see your nose yet? It takes a few days before it slowly materializes from all the swelling.Originally Posted by tampafldancer
They certainly should have loaded you up on Percocet (well, I had a couple of friends on my surgical team, so they took care of me). The amount of bone cutting on a rhinoplasty is amazing.
I saw your before pic right before the BA and I honestly have no idea how you could possibly improve your nose. In fact, I don't know how you could possibly improve anything. There are times plastic surgeons should keep their hands off of absolute God-given perfection.
I think the majority of the surgery was for deviated septum, right?
Still...I thought you looke beautiful before, Tampa...can't wait to see the "new" you.![]()
A nose job seems like one the most painful cosmetic procedures. I saw it on Discovery Health and the doctors literally chip away at it. OUUUCCCCHHHH! Hope you feel better soon. I haven't seen your photos but from the avatar you look lovely. I'm sure you'll feel alot better- a deviated septum sux.
I agree with the other poster too. It's the slight imperfections that make everyone so unique and beautiful to me. This may be a little weird but I am so attracted to people that have a hump in the bridge of their nose. That is so sexy!

In a couple of days the vicodin will stop working, get your doc to give you something anti-anxiety like valium, otherwise the burning and itching will drive you mad!

well, he gave me codine at first and i had to call him to get hydrocodone. I don't know how i would ask him for valium, he may think if i ask him for something else that i am a druggieOriginally Posted by Katrine
and yes, the itching and burning is driving me nuts already!
Just ask him, tell him another dancer who had the surgery gave recommendation! It wouldn't hurt! I don't care for those types of meds but they saved my ass because I like to pick at things.......its natural!

my mom gave me her arnica and i have been using it. I have chipmunk cheeks and eyes. The swelling is really bad!

Can you put a bag of ice over your face so the swelling can go down? I know someone who did that, but i'm not sure if it was the Doc who told her to.Originally Posted by tampafldancer

Get well, TFD.

yes, and my insurance covered the deviated septum, but i also decided to do a TINY TINY bit of rhino.. I had a barely noticable bump left over when i was 12 and broke my noseOriginally Posted by VenusGoddess

The bump before was very minimal, and i believe i was probally the only one to actually notice it. Well the ent could see it after i pointed it out..
This is it for me as far as cosmetic surgery. If i knew how much each procedure would hurt, i would have reconsiderered it.
Usually the nose procedure hurts far less then the BA,(or so i was told) but not in my case. He spent a lot of time on me in the surgical center. When my mom stopped in to see how i was doing, she was crying because surgery was taking so long!
Ah, deviated septum.
That makes a lot more sense; my mother had that surgery and her breathing and allergy condition improved immensely as a result.
Get well, and get up here.

Ahh tampa you are scaring me, I was considering getting rhinoplasty sometime in the near future.Did the doctor say how long the pain was supposed to last?
If you have a massage therapist or know anyone who does massage, ask them to do some effleurage on you... it really gets the lymphatic system going and consequently it will draw all that extra fluid build up causing the swelling away from the site and it can often bring the swelling down 50% or more with one treatment. I used to work on a woman who would come to me after every cosmetic surgery she had (rhino, eye lift, cheek implants, face lift, etc) to have a 30 min effleurage treatment and it works wonders.

Hmm, i have never heard of that. But i need to heal up a little bit still before i go out in publicOriginally Posted by Miette

Oh and princess, don't be scared. This was just my experience and is not the norm.
My parents put frozen peas in latex gloves, froze them some more, then put them over my face. The swelling and bruising will be all gone in less than a week, and there will be no other visible scars, so don't worry. I promise it will be better....for a while though...
Remember peeps, the nose never stops growing, so it will always change shape throughout life.
Rhinoplasty is the most commonly repeated cosmetic surgery because almost no one is happy with the results.....

My nose hurt worse than my boobs too, I think I remember posting about that before. Every one I have ever known that had a nose job said it hurt worse too. I also think the nose takes longer to fully heal. But still, I'm glad I had it done. I'm sure that after the initial shock and pain wears off, you will be too.
Just be sure to keep your head elevated at all times and sleep with your head propped up on pillows. Katrine's advice was good too.
I've always thought about getting my nose done. I really dont have anythin too terribly wrong with it, I'd just like it to be a little pointier.
