Default "Um do you speak English?" (sarcasm inside)

I remember this happening to me and always wondered why and I just remembered this again. I sat down to a customer once and I said the usuall "hi my name is 'Naomi' can I sit with you?" and he would nod towards me and I thought it was ok to sit next to him and I proceeded to do so. Next, I ask "How are you? Are you having fun tonight?" in a positive bubbly upbeat way and he IGNORES me??? What the hell and I stare at the guy for a second and walk away. Why..why why I know I was loud enough over the music? Its really hard to read people when they DONT TALK!!!
Has anyone had a similar experience?

When they ignore you they're kinda like a mr punk and trying to feed their fragile egos by ignoring a hot chick. These are the same guys that otherwise ALWAYS get ignored by hot chicks so they think turning it around on strippers is some sorta payback. Mysognists.

If he won't verbally acknowledge you, don't sit down. Walk on to the next.

Did you try signing him or making eye contact so he could read your lips? He might be deaf. In some kinds of partial hearing loss, background noise can overwhelm spoken words at all or selected frequencies.

It will happen. The reason could be Sporty's, but most likely Bridgette's explanation.

The reason; any hearing impaired customers I've had the pleasure of doing business with will make it a point to try to show the dancer that they can't hair, usually through visual sign, aka pointing to ears and shaking head.

But he might have been really drunk too......

Once in a while,I'll get a Chinese speaking customer and being that I can still speak it,it makes it so much easier for both of us.

Same here about hearing impaired customers, they'll usually fall over themselves to point out that they're not being rude, including bringing paper and pen or something similar.

I just move away if they're being that way.

Yeah, occasionally I've had this happen, but only when I've approached people sitting around the podium. I know they're not deaf because I've seen them talking to the waitresses to order a drink. people who are deaf or those I've met at least, usually will find a way to let you know, not just ignore you - same with people who don't speak the language. I can usually get words out of the non-talkers though, lol :-) Acctually a couple of times people have said that they just feel a little intimidated or shy, but others are just plain rude and trying to make you look stupid.

Well people that speak another language will usually let you know some how they don't understand or don't speak english. An hearing impaired person will let you know, so my thought this guy was an ass and didn't deserve to even be spoken to.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

    It happens at PEC, definitely.

It's happened to me once a week or so since I've been working there; every single time it's been some investment-banker type who is just too important to acknowlege others. People like that really embody the saying about how money can't buy class.

Sporty's explanation will be likely in about .01% of cases. The rest of the time they're not deaf, they're just being fucking douchebags.

I had one tonight. I sooo wanted to accidentally grind my 7" stiletto into his toe, but instead I bent down and put my face right in his, smiled and said ever so sweetly, "you know, the money you're spending on cover and drinks here would be much better spent on therapy." Then I kept right on smiling and proceeded on to the next customer. It was a busy night and literally two minutes after that I was leading a guy up to CR for an hour

Most of the time I look for guys who've made eye contact but sometimes I'll try one who just looks like a good target. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I agree with both Bridgette and Nina's quotes above.

There are always a few mysognists in the crowd and it is best to just ignore them rather than waste your time and energy on assholes. If they want attention they can behave properly.

A guy in a shitty mood at a SC, say it isn't so. I know for sure if any of you ladies were around I wouldn't be in one for very long.

I hate it when guys act like that. I haven't had it happen often, but it's so rude. I agree that most of the time, it's not because they're deaf or can't speak English. Usually if a customer is deaf or doesn't speak English, he will find some way of letting you know. Bridgette is right-the guys that purposely ignore the dancers can't get a hot woman to give them the time of day outside of a strip club, so they have to come in and be jerks. These guys should just stay home!

Wow, I would have guessed my explanation would acocunt for 1-5% of the experiences. Guys in clubs are meaner than I thought if they'd do that to attractive dancers.

every time this has happened to me in the past, i end up feeling stupid or sad. I love your comeback, and if you don't mind i think i will use something like that myself.
