    Default Security Arrangements

Guys, when you pay the cover and enter your club, what are the security arrangements at time of payment? Are you frisked for weapons or prohibited items? Are metal detectors in use?

Ladies, at clubs that do have 'stronger' security measures (frisking or metal detectors, things of that nature) do you feel more comfortable knowing that the guys that come in have been subjected to this security measure, and does it give you peace of mind?

At my home club, cell phones and pocketknives are prohibited, and we're frisked at the door. I'm used to it and submit willingly. I have nothing to hide.

At the two other clubs I go to, there is no such arrangement, and I kind of find that a little disturbing. I remove my items from my pockets before going in to the other clubs, but I could easily carry a knife in there if I were so inclined.

What goes on at your club?

Honestly I feel better at a club where guys are frisked, but unfortunately at most nicer GCs they don't do that, reckon the custies think it's offensive Also I think most people mistakenly think that frisking implies more danger - when in reality it means the club is actively trying to LESSEN the risk factors. A psycho can more easily go into a nice GC dressed appropriately and carry weapons to hurt someone than in other midrange or "lower-class" clubs where door security is tighter.

At the clubs I tend to frequent we are typically not frisked, although guys are asked to remove hats in one club. However, I have been to clubs where they search you rather thoroughly. I guess it depends...

Most clubs aren't frisking for safety, but for privacy...try bringing in one of those Sprint PCS picture phones and see how fast your butt gets tossed from any LA club.

I guess that's a regional thing then CP, because anytime I've worked clubs that frisked, they weren't checking phones but they wouldn't let a guy bring in his Sharpie once!

    Never been frisked either.

No metal detectors around here (Austin) that I know of. Been to a few clubs in Houston with metal detectors, but even emptying out my pockets, I still end up setting the damn things off. They usually just wave me in anyway...guess I look innocent enough.

About as intense as security has ever gotten was having my driver's license checked and being asked if I was carrying a camera phone. No frisking, no metal detectors.

I do get funny looks over my license when its nearing expiration because having a December birthday, mine is usually one of the last to be printed before the folks at the DMV change the design. Hence, doormen sometimes give it extra scrutiny.

The security at my club is a lot like catfish's. They don't search you for anything. The biggest security measure they take is making sure I have the obligatory "HEY I'M UNDER 21!!" x's on my hands. That, and they look a little harder at my driver's liscense, as it's a Louisiana liscense, and I go to a Philadelphia club. You could walk in there with anything, and I almost did. I was planning on taking my pepper spray and a box cutter for protection, but I forgot them in my car. They would not have known if I had a gun or anything, they just cared about getting my $20.

We need metal detectors at our club, the owner keeps saying he's going to get them, but we don't have them. I would feel much safer. Last week one of the new girls danced for a guy who told her to be careful of the gun in his pocket....

The club I go to checks driver licences on everyone, but dosent even ask about anything else.I always have a Buck knife and a cell phone, often have my(licenced)gun too.never been questioned. The real truth is that if someone comes with a weapon bent on mayhem, the first thing they'll use it for is to take out the door guy who asks him to relinquish it.It just gets easier from there.Because its not politically popular, the media fails to tell you that most armed nutcase attacks are not stopped by security measures, but by the fact that there are none. That is to say that if a nut comes in to a secure area with a weapon,by whatever means,he is then free to operate in an enviroment of unarmed individuals. If however he comes into an area where any number of others may be armed,he will have a much harder time getting very far.Ask yourself this:would it be easier to shoot up a school or a police station? Its much harder to be a wacko when somebody is gonna zeroize you on the spot. If someone did get a weapon into your club, would you rather wait on the cops to arrive or just wait on several of the other customers who are already there and as well armed as the cops? When you check guys at the door, the honest guys readily comply. The one who has a bad plan will have already thought of ways to get his weapon past security. This type of security only works well in places like courthouses or airports because after you get through security, there are a large number of armed officers on the other side.Anytime you try to secure an unarmed area, youre just paying lipservice to security.you only need one a hole to get through and you're f**ked. It could work where all your bouncers are armed, licenced and trained. But I doubt if thats your case. And just because the bouncer is a big weightlifter badass dosent count. If theres just the one guy in there with a gun,he wins.period. Best bet is if most or all of the customers have one too.

Several of our bouncers are armed and trained, as well as one of the DJ's.

At my regular club there are no onerous security checks. Hopefully thats not faith misplaced but thus far the club has been cool from a trouble standpoint.

Theres a really glitzy club south of town that damn near gives you a rectal examination before allowing you entrance. I suspose they have their reasons but I avoid that club. The last time I was there was for my sons bachelor party this past summer. I dont imagine I'll be back there anytime soon.

That would be a good thing, then ! Actually where I go,the guy in charge of security is an off-duty WVa trooper..I know he's trained, and sure suspect he's armed.

If you're talking about Jills, John's not a state trooper anymore (rumor is he was fired). But several of the bouncers there are packing and they're all very efficient out on the floor, but they don't back the girls up in the rooms at all.
