I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.
I remember staying at a very run down hostel in Paris once. The beds were covered in bed bugs, and other bugs.....I was covered in little red bumps in the morning.

They have pictures of what the bugs look like.

You cant see "bed bugs"

Oh yes you can... especially after feeding.

Ya, you can see them although they aren't big (1/4" adult size).
Here's some general info:
Symptoms of bites vary with the individual. Some people develop an itchy welt or localized swelling, while others have little or no reaction. Unlike fleabites that occur mainly around the ankles, bed bugs feed on any bare skin exposed while sleeping (face, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, etc.). The welts and itching are often attributed to other causes such as mosquitoes. For these reasons, infestations may go a long time unnoticed, and can become quite large before being detected.
A common concern with bed bugs is whether they transmit diseases. Although bed bugs can harbor pathogens in their bodies, transmission to humans is considered highly unlikely. For this reason, they are not considered a serious disease threat. Their medical significance is mainly limited to the itching and inflammation from their bites. The usual treatment prescribed is topical application of antiseptic or antibiotic creams or lotions to prevent infection.
Actually yes you can. They aren't big at all but they are like fleas (size wise)....Originally Posted by AinNY

It isn't something where you can just 'clean something off' and they go away. They can be in just about anything....Furniture, clothing, strangers can carry them into your house, pets, etc. If one gets inside your house, They can lay hundreds and hundreds of eggs.

Ewww!
I remember when I went to Maine and the beds were so high of the ground,I mean you literally had to climb up onto the bed!I woke up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and realized why,There were tons of bugs,I guess like water bugs,Big ass bugs crawling around!Yikes!![]()

EEEEEEWWWWWW I am soooo groooosssed out!!!! Oh Sick.![]()
To think that most of america sleep with these things.
you live like an ivy vine
you can only survive by clinging onto trees
that's your flaw

I can cute-efy this thread. I woke up one morning in my cheap hotel bed in Guam with my gorgeous blond, blue-eyed boyfriend sleeping next to me...and the sensation of bedbugs biting my thighs.
I looked at his angelic sleeping face next to me and wondered, Are they biting him too?
Just had to share.

Ick!
Hence the reason why I have those protective guards over my matress, box spring, duvet, pillows, etc.
Ick!!!!

I'm a microbiology major and have taken a parasitology class (dory, yes) and we discussed bed bugs... but I don't remember much. Except they like to collect in dark, cool places like pictures frame or underneath mattresses. You can also pick them up when you travel and they can hitch a ride with your clothing, suitcase, etc, and then infest your place. Not very lovely...
My mother was ultra paranoid about bed bugs when i was growing up and told me that the only way to keep them away is to regularly vacuum your mattress and boxspring (she would every time she changed the sheets). I was bitten by them once, sleeping on a frat boy's mattress in college - those houses are so unsanitary.
...and the day came, when the risk it took to remain closed in a bud became worse than the risk it took to blossom.
better be careful they can carry diseases

Don't dustmites live in your matresses and things if you don't have those allergy covers on them?
I always thought that was a bit creepy too....

yeah dustmites too. the effectiveness of allergy cover is debateable (spelling?)
