    Default Unethical SC practice?

I recently frequented a stripclub on a wednesday night here in Montreal, i was scouting for my soon to be website and i figured it could be a nice place to start. Since it was a wednesday night the place wasn't too busy and the dancers were quite talkative to the clientele. This one attractive lady comes talks to me and asks me if she could sit down next to me, so i said sure. We small talk about stuff and i mention i'm starting a website, not pornographic, just fetish modeling, etc.

So after we finish talking she gets up and says that will be 80$ My jaw dropped, she told be 8 songs 10$ a song is equal to 80$ So i'm thinking to myself this lady came to me without even me asking her to sit with me. I had to call the bouncer over and ask him is this quite common, i mean charging me because the dancers initiate conversation? He said no, and i didn't want to cause a fuss right then and there so i picked up and left.

So i ask you dancers, is this a common occurence or was she just a bad apple in the industry? And should i not have been in a strip club to seek models? Maybe that's what encouraged her to jip me out of 80$.

    I agree.
If I were you,I would announce my website intentions on a stripper forum as my first post, even descibing it in detail.
I think this would save more then just the 80 dollar surprise you got,but it would also be more productive as far as reaching more entertainers with a far less amount of legwork.
If everyone didnt catch on to it,you might even get a few to send audition photos, not pornographic of course, just professional fetish type stuff.
I would think just the few who send stuff would be enough to get any website off the ground, with of course, the material you already might have,or plan on shooting in the future.
Once the initial site has been started with the first few responders, then i would recommend posting a second time, with the web site address.
This is sure to present a professional appearence and is sure to get more of dem gullible strippers to send more photos in an attempt to be "discovered"by an established internet website..
Its a brilliant plan!!!!!!!!(and very original)

The problem is how to tell them they aint getting paid or how to tell them they wont own the photos or the negs of THIER image??
The smart ones know thier image is owned by them, and only them.THEY say when, how and to who they go to.

I think if I were going to do this,i would concentrate on dem stupid/gullible strippers and avoid the professional entertainers who would wants contracts, paychecks, and control of thier own image.
Those fucking professional bitches have already figured out how to do 2-3 lapdances for a computer geek so he will build her own website, where SHE will own and profit from the images taken from the professional photographer she gave 2-3 lapdances to last week.
I think this can become a problem if I ever try to do this ,i shall sit and ponder until I figure a way around this small obstical. The dreaded professional!
Maybe i shall fast until an answer is found within me.
Maybe someone on the forum can suggest a solution to those dam professional entertainers???

I would have thought you could smell the scam she tried to run on you??

    BTW Welcome to the forum.

Well, I agree you were cheated.... That is not proper dancer etiquette. Although a few times I have given dances to guys and talk to them most of the time (while still dancing on them, of course) and although I asked them each time a song ended if they wanted another, they complained about the total of the dances... I learned that if I talk one sond then am silent the next, by the end of our time together, he doesn't mind the price, makes no sense to me, but whatever.
So, you are saying that dancers actually get paid at that club to talk to the customers? Wow, where is this? I could make a fortune there, I try to never stop talking! are all Canadian clubs like that?
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

From my experience as a customer, I would have to say her approach was unethical and not the norm.

Do some customers pay for conversation? Sure. Sometimes a dancer will sit with a customer for a few minutes and then ask if they would like a dance. The customer may decline the dance, but offer to tip for her time or offer to buy a drink and tip her for sitting a little while longer with him. It's usually a situation where an offer is made by the customer and then accepted by the dancer, or there might be a pre-understood arrangement if the customer is a regular. However, I've never been to a club where the dancer just sits down and the meter automatically starts running.

Although it's possible that there is some club out there where this is the norm, so I won't say it never happens. It's just not something I've seen or am used to.

(I have no comment on the website thing, or the idea you were trying to recruit in a SC, other than I don't think it's generally a good idea.)

It just goes to show you, Goo, that you were approached by someone who has no clue as to what they are doing. Me, personally, I never sit for more than 1-2 songs...and I don't charge. If the customer wants me to stay longer, either for talking or dancing, then they are going to have to pay up. However, I don't sit down and talk to someone and then charge them $80+ for doing so. It's obvious that this girl isn't a hustler and although it didn't work on you, I am sure that it works more often than not. There are a lot of guys who will pay up just to avoid embarrassment or confrontation.

Well thanks for the answers everyone, thank goodness i didn't pay, let me state i would have paid if i asked her to join and sit with me but she initiated everything so i'll be damned if i paid. It's good to know that not all dancers are like that too.

As for models i just put ads in the paper now, its not worth the hassle to try and convince someone if i'm for real and stuff. Bad thing about newspaper ads is i ask for "beautiful" models, and some of the women that show up are ... well not so appealing to the eye.
