    Brazilian Wax

I am a newbie and I am going to get a brazilian wax. What can I expect? Is she just going to tell me to open my legs and start waxing away? Will It hurt real bad? and how long does it last? is it worth it?

as someone who did it at home the first time let me say I wish I had it professionally done. It actually took me several days to do the whole thing. Once I started yelping, well, it was all over.

the more you get it done...the more you get used to it....the less it hurts....take an advil or 3 before hand if youre really worried about the pain.

I would recamend getting it done at the salon... they put this tiny paper underwear on you if you want, and they are very fast, and get it over before you would give up yourself....

well, honestly that depends how close to the customer do you get while nude? Where I worked there was a six foot rule I knew a girl who waxed she claimed guys couldn't see the regrowth and she was right. plus she would draw a landing strip on with eyeliner until waxing day. she claimed it detracted the eye from any hair growth

trinity-- if you're going to start dancing in atlanta, you have to have a strip of hair at the very least that is two fingers wide and three fingers long! don't wax it all, or you won't be able to work until it grows out.

ksalerio, i work in a nude club, too, and found the brazilian wax impossible. I got one before i auditioned and ended up w/ little white bumps, like whiteheads, that looked even worse when popped. It cleared up in a couple days, but any reaction to wax leaves guys w/ the impression you have an std or something gross like that. The regrowth was noticeable w/ me, too.
...and the day came, when the risk it took to remain closed in a bud became worse than the risk it took to blossom.

I've had it done once and while somewhat embarassing it was a lot easier to have someone do it than do it myself. I have tried and just can't wax EVERYWHERE like they can. It didn't hurt as bad as I thought actually becasue the waxer was good and she told me to hold the skin tight and it made it hurt less. It is kind of yucky having to let it grow some to do it though but I'm not a dancer so unless I got lucky it wasn't an issue.

Trinity - it's best to go to a salon that KNOWS WHAT A BRAZILIAN IS. You would be surprised how many salons say they do Brazilians, but guess what ... THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT ONE IS! I went to a salon in New Orleans and they specifically told me they did Brazilians. When the process started, the woman started putting wax on my thighs. I asked her what she was doing and she said "this is a Brazilian." I told her what a Brazilian was and she said she had never heard of such a thing. She asked the other two women in the salon that "supposedly did Brazilians" and they had no idea that it was waxing that whole area!!

Second, if you are in or near a big city go to Allure.com and check it out. There is a segment on Allure.com that will tell you the best places to get a Brazilian. Do not attempt to do one yourself at home. You will have all kinds of messes and bumps.

Please go to a professional who can not only give you an even wax job, they can give you really good stuff to put on it to keep the ingrown hairs down. Yea it hurts but you get used to it. My waxer told me to take a couple of tylenols about 30 min to an hour before. It looks really good & you can really tell the difference between something done at home & from a professional. I have to admit that it is a bit daunting to have your crotch in someone's face but she looks at women all day long so it is nothing to her & I really like the end result. I deal with the regrowth by use a depilatory cream until the final day. However, you will find something that works for you best.

Go to a professional. It's going to hurt and the skin needs to be held really tight to do a good job and it's next to impossible to do this yourself unless you've been trained.

I wasn't embarrassed to get mine. It didn't hurt that bad. I had a few bumps but DON'T PICK AT THEM!! Don't pick at any pimples anywhere on your body, bleh. I laughed through most of my brazillian...

to prevent ingrown hairs afterward....when you wash yourself in the shower...lather up and use your nails and lightly scrape against the grain of your hair.

curvygirl, I had one in New Orleans and I think it was a similar thing. I heard they are supposed to wax all up in your crack and stuff and this lady didn't. She still did a good job though.
