Default Your state "borrowing" some of your financial assets.

After my father passed away, I didn't feel like doing much, and forgot about several of my dividend reinvestment accounts, several of which apparently have now been "borrowed" by the state of California.

Does anyone here know which form(s) I need to send in to get back my ownership of these accounts? Please either answer here or direct me to any previous threads on this topic.

Btw, do all 50 states pull this stunt?

    Thanks to everyone!

I would strongly advise contacting a property lawyer or a trust lawyer. These laws are sticky and full of twists and turns (actually, all laws are). It's probably in your best interest to have a lawyer really look into it for you and tell you what can be done, if anything.

    Good luck!
