I saw that, too, and I guess that means I won't be dancing in san antonio - not that i'd really want my family to run into meBut really, a three foot rule on top of permits seems way too extensive. May as well stick the girls in a cage.
...and the day came, when the risk it took to remain closed in a bud became worse than the risk it took to blossom.

that's bullshit. what are they suppose to do? wear it on a lanyard around their neck?
Oops, I posted about this in Club Chat, before I saw this post.

I wore a permit to dance in Houston. You attach a rubber band to it which you attach to your shoe. Its pretty easy to figure out. Some girls attached them to garters, or to their wrist.
This really sucks......

Some of the housemoms in TX even make these little holders. It's not that bad. No worse to having to wear pasties, all things said and done.
Customers don't even notice them, they sometimes ask "what is that?". I don't think it's a big deal, the only thing that sucks is you can get into trouble for not wearing your's.

I always just put the permit around my ankle with a garter. The garter covered up most of the permit, including the picture.

well I was always used to just having it in my locker. I can't imagine having to wear it on my person.
Wow. That's pretty crazy. I have never even heard of this.
I guess if I had to wear it, I would get used to it and it would not be such a big deal but it is pretty silly.
They keep our permits in our own files in the club's office.
Question on wearing the permits though.
I would imagine that your permit has your real name, possibly even your home address on it? Talk about making things easy for a stalker. That's sounds kind of risky to me.
Dancing is wonderful training for girls, it's the first way you learn to guess what a man is going to do before he does it. ~Christopher Morley, Kitty Foyle

make a bunch of copies of your permits.
tape them together into a dress or some kind of monk lookin smock.
The next time they are in the club checkin permits, wear it on stage and rip it off piece by piece.(just remember to keep the real one on ya)
From what I've read here in SAT, the badges will only have the dancers' stage names and a picture. This will help our highly trained police force determine who is a stripper and what that stripper's name is. I guess half naked women swinging around on a pole isn't clue enough. Management at my club says it could be a protective measure since it will stop women with felonies from dancing (???).
I won't apply for the permit because I can't have dancing on my record with what I'm trying to do with my career, so I'll be dancing in Austin once they begin enforcing it.
The way I understand it the permits will have the dancers REAL name on them and must be displayed visibly. The SA clubs are fighting it on the basis of dancer safety. We'll see what happens.
Whether the permit has to be displayed or not .... it still puts stripping on your record but then so does receiving a 1099 from a club. Even bartenders and waitresses at strip clubs are considered Adult/Sex industry workers.

Not exactly a "new" thing in Texas...Houston has required dancers to be "licensed" for several years, and their highly UNenforced 3 foot rule was started back in 1996 I think.
I wonder if they're going to make girls wear pasties over their nipples that are not licensed as they do in Houston.
By the way, the link that Katrine provided in her thread says that the dancer's stage name would be put on the permit, and that police would have access to the "real" info.
I'm a simple man, making my way through the universe.
In Houston you are given two cards; one with your real name, D.O.B., and TX I.D. # and some other shit that is kept on file in the office of the club you work at, the one that would be displayed is just your picture and stage name. I really don't think it is the big deal that people think it is other than in the way Katrine states, that VICE will be out attempting to enforce their new rules.
In Detroit you have to be liscensed but you don't have to actually display it. You do have to be able to show it and a valid photo I.D. if Vice comes in tho. ALL dancers in the city have to be liscensed. There are no provisions for just wearing pasties and full bottoms. I'm planning to relocate to Houston in the spring so I'm keeping a close eye on developing laws down there. I'm hoping to not dance but if have to I want to be prepared. The whole real name/ stage name thing on the card is what scares me. No way do I want some psycho having a way to trace me!
Psychos have always had a good way of tracing people, you know getting in their car and following your's, writing down your liscense plate number, shit all you need is someone's last name and you can find out the address that they are registered to vote at.
I agree with rebuildme but giving anyone your real name and address cuts out alot of the work that a casual psycho might not be willing to take on. In all the years I've been dancing, I've only been seriously followed once, and it wasn't someone I had even talked to! I use a stage name to try to keep my identity and my private life just that, private. Advertising my personal info on a legal document strapped to my body just seems foolish and dangerous.Originally Posted by Rebuildme
I spoke to my GM about this last night. He anticipates a flood of San Antonio girls. We already are packed on the weekends with girls from Houston, San Ant and Dallas.
He is not happy about this. I actually ran into a girl last night at Perfect10 that I worked with at Ricks in Houston years ago. She lives in Dallas and won't dance there on weekends because vice is so bad that she got arrested for asking the waitress for bottled water when she was sitting with undercover.
She told me that Dallas is only worth weekdays. And I know this girl is not a dirty dancer....
Major suckassedness all the way. More tomorrow......

I hate to be catty about it, my business was good, but that's Texas for ya. Most clubs hire about anyone who walks in the door![]()

After all, the sex industry paid your bills even if you were just a waitress/bartender, and by working in the same establishment you are showing your approval, and support for the industry. So...I don't see how if you are already working in the club it would make any difference for you to get a permit. You're already on record as having worked in the club if you paid taxes, and even if you don't pay your taxes, you're still on record, because the club claimed that you made income there even if you failed to report it. Anyone who has access to gaining your permit record, could also just as easily look up any tax record info on you.Originally Posted by DJ_WuLf

That said, for some insane reason beyond my comprehension, Texas chose risk over reason insofar as stalking is concerned some time ago - it takes all of five minutes on a computer for a guy to get your name, address, driver's license number, a list of all vehicles registered to your address, and a list of all other's with driver's licenses at your address if he decides he likes the way you look while you're driving your car and takes down your license plate number. IMO, the insanity of such a system is facially apparent, and I'm amazed it hasn't led to even more "stalking" type problems than it already has!
