    Default Premonitions....

All hard-nosed skeptics please skip this thread.

My sister told me something today; a week ago she had a premontion that something bad would happen. Within a few days, one friend died in an accident and the brother of another friend was killed in action in Iraq. She's pretty upset, and no, she's not the kind of person that would say things like that for no reason (she's very sensitive, and gets upset by mortality issues).
Her less dramatic premonitions have to do with keeping her out of harm's way (leaving a party before fights break out, forgetting to do something routine and missing being involved in an unexpected emergency at the routine place.)
I'm posting this because we were just discussing my incredible luck (I get waaay more free passes in life than I deserve!) There's definitely room in this life for the uncanny. I'm grateful she has this extra sense...it seems to have helped her. But of course, as explained in the first paragraph, sometimes it's sad.
    Any thoughts?

I do believe in things like that. I've had a lot of dreams growing up that ended up coming true and still have a lot of Deja Vu.

We experience time as a linear process....first one second happens...then the next...then the next...but that's just how we experience it. The time-space continuum is a complicated concept, and we do not know if everything happens linearly, or if everything is always happening and our consciousness simply experiences it in a moving linear fashion. If the former is true, then it would be easy to understand how our brains could "experience" moments that have not yet reached us in "time" because in that case, it has already happened and somehow we experienced it in some fashion...simply out of sequence.

Well, I'm a hardnosed skeptic or maybe cynic, but there's been times when all the cells are yelling, "danger, Will Robinson," and there's something dramatic that's gone on. It happens very rarely, but the last time it did, I decided to turn off suddenly from my usual route, and a bad accident occurred on my usual route up ahead.

That doesn't even compare to someone else close to me, who has gotten strong blasts of "X is dead," and then gets a phone call later from out of town that X died today.

So skeptic/cynic, yes, but still a realist. If it happens, whether explanable or not, I accept that it happens.
