HEH! Gee. Well honestly it has everything to do with what you eat..also factor in if you are getting the right vitamins and whatnot. Being a breeder of dogs, I have a helpful him that helps them, and it might help you if you tried it. If you want your dogs poo to be easy to clean up, you put about a tablespoon of cooked rice in their food everyday, so it wont be mushy. So, perhaps you should try to eat some rice, see if that helps..otherwise, I wouldnt have the slightest.
*oops, meant helpful hint!
You are probably not getting enough fiber...

I eat a lot of rice, esp. brown rice. It's cooked, frozen, I just microwave it. Trader Joe's has, as does Whole Foods. Like 3.99 for a big box w/3 - 4 bags in it.

Like VG said fiber would help that quick.
You can find it in grean beans, lentil, beans, prunes, raisins, and much much more. But, if you increase your fiber drink a ton a water and increase slooooowly or the people who love you will not like you b/c youll be waaayy tooty and uncomfortable.

Since the end of summer? That's a long time. If you haven't changed your diet, I would get it checked out by a doctor. A long time ago I had a similar incident, and after numerous tests they determined I had blastocystis hominus (sp?), basically an intestinal parasite. Probably picked up by someone not washing their hands properly before preparing food in a restaurant (yick!!) An easy course of antibiotics and all was good again![]()
Mix in some salads.
Mushy? Depends on what that means. If you eat alot of fiber you should not have hard dry stools, but loose. Mushy as in loose? Eat some hard solid foods. Also is the colour normal. Not greenish or almost black. That would not be good, or even a yellowish colour. But certain foods turn stools different colours. Anyway, the biggest concern for me would be why? And dehydration. See a doctor, if this is not normal for you. In the meantime try eating some peanut butter sandwiches!Originally Posted by XoStellaOx

Increase your fibre intake...such as wholegrain bread, wholegrain pasta, high bran, and vegetables. This should add some bulk to your stools. But I also think you should go and see your doctor and find out what's causing it - its could be a number of things.

I found this online at the colonic association:
Healthy babies, animals and adults not subjected to the "refinements" of civilization (i.e. aboriginal peoples) have bowel movements shortly after each meal is eaten. So, assuming there is sufficient fibre and water available to the colon, one characteristic is a bowel movement shortly after a meal is eaten. Once the urge to eliminate is honoured by a trip to the toilet, the elimination should be easy and take no more than a few seconds. The stool will be long, large in diameter, light brown in colour, without offensive odour and should float or sink very slowly. When the toilet is flushed, the stool immediately begins breaking apart by the action of water movement. As incredible as this may sound, it is true and commonly experienced in cultures where people live more naturally.

One thing I've found, for upset stomach, diarhea, etc, is the herb Slippery Elm. It really helps settle the stomach. Agree that you should see a doctor.

I just switched my dog to special hypoallergenic food to see if it helps her since she scratches off her fur and bites herself. But now she has trouble with her poop! I think she used to be on high fiber food and now her tummy isn't used to having to work so hard to digest it. She keeps farting too!
