    Default Personal trainers?

Anyone have any really good results with a personal trainer? I'm thinking about lipo in my thighs but maybe I'll try training first. I mean it's not like I'm a workout nut and I only do pilates two times a week and try to eat healthy but not as well as I should so maybe it's worth a shot. I had a trainer in New Orleans I really liked but don't know any in the tampa area so if anyone knows a good one let me know.

Well, I haven't had a personal trainer yet but my bf's getting me one for 6 weeks for christmas! The program is called 6 weeks to success. I wanna get down to 120-115lbs and get uber toned. But I think since my bf is getting it for me he'll be telling the trainer what the goals are and he doesn't want me to lose any weight.

Anyway, definitely try out the trainer first. I dunno when u plan to get one but I'll probably post if it's working or not for me once I'm able to start the program. Working out is healthy, lipo isn't. Make surgery your last resort.

Try going to your local gym and asking about personal trainers. There is normally a few available.

Does anyone use 24 hourfitness trainers? How is the experience if so?
I need someone to kick my ass back into dancing shape.

    Bunny,

I'm a trainer in tampa, but I really don't have time to pick up any more clients with school and dancing a couple of days a week; however, I can give you some suggestions.

Steer clear of Ballys or anything even associated with them - HUGE ripoff. I worked there for a year; sessions average about 80 bucks a piece, but the trainer only gets about 20 of that.

Lifestyles has some decent trainers, but also some very inexperienced. Their rates are much more reasonable (40/hr I believe) Make sure to always ask for their credentials (ie, what type of certification do you have? how long have you been training? have you competed in any competitions?)

Gold's is strictly contract trainers, meaning each trainer charges his or her own rates, and pays a percentage to the facility each month for use. Again, some great trainers here, but ask what their credentials are.

There are also a few small personal training studios, but I am not familiar with them... I do know that most studios require their trainers to have competed in bodybuilding or fitness competitions and have a bachelor's in physiology or such. This also comes with a higher price tag though.

If motivation is your problem, and you need someone to hold you accountable for your diet and fitness goals, a personal trainer is a great investment.

tampadancer, thanks for telling me about Bally's. I was thinking of joining there since I have two friends who go there. They don't use trainers though. I also found another studio online that I think just does personal training and sounds good. Can't recall the name right now. Body Construction maybe or something like that? I'd rather just have a training studio as opposed to a gym because I get bored with gyms and hate memberships. I just don't want to pay all that money and have it not be worth it. I know the trainer I had years ago was great and pushed me harder than I could push myself but I think maybe just the one session a week wasn't enough.

Jackiex, is that you in your avatar? If so, I want a butt like yours! I am not huge but just need toning in specific places. I really just think a lot of it is genes and that I gain fat in my thighs more than anywhere and that's why I wonder if lipo is the best answer. I am scared of having it come out bad though.

    Bunny,

Don't submit yourself to lipo before you bust your ass in the gym and get serious about your diet. You are young enough that your skin will bounce back after you lose a little weight and tone up. Lipo is major surgery.....

yeah, that's why I'm scared of lipo. I actually consulted with a surgeon years ago about it and he told me I'm the perfect patient because I don't want to lose weight but just certain trouble spots but he also warned me that my body could redistribute and start gaining fat cells in areas it didn't have them before and that I'd be like his nurse who kept having the procedure over and over. I think when I get back to town after Christmas and New Years I'll give the trainer thing a try. I'll be amongst all the new years resolution people who decide to get fit! hahahah!

I was a personal trainer. Depending on how much and how fast you want to loose aerobic excercise is great, kick boxing it great, try to stay away from lifting heavy weights only use them to tone with. you don't wnat to build you want to lose what you have.

I would suggest training over surgery on certain subjects any day. eat right too. consume those vegeis and no pigging out

    keep moving

I totally agree with bunny, you really have to go to the gym and be sure to bust your ass. Go to one that offers aerobic, kickboxing and pilates. I know everyone here hates bally's but it that is the only one around that offers this then go. they do have discounts this time of year and good classes.

    golds gym is good too
