Default Does facial exercise/ massage work?

A few years back I saw infomericals selling little plastic facial exercise gizmos...I thought it was hella funny and went back to not worrying about wrinkles. Now I'm older and am starting to get paranoid about getting wrinkles....
Is the touching a face gets during cleansing and exfoliating enough for good circulation? Should extra be done? Does it help?

Omidog! I am such a loser and actually ordered one of those gizmos.

IT HURTS LIKE A MUTHA! The machine sends small electrical shocks into your face. I can see where it would be effective. After I had knee surgery, they used a similar machine on my quad muscles to boost their regrowth, in physical therapy, by a trained professional.

I had to return it. I don't know if there were results, it was too painful for me to use. Currently I use L'oreal Revitalift Slim. Its supposed to tone and contour the face. It makes a decent very light moisturizer.

facial exercises really work. I found one on an infomercial. I have big eyes and I thought I needed an eyelife. I saw this tape and bought it and it worked wonders. Lifted my eyes so that I look younger, no sagging skin at all on my face.

I cannot tell you how great facial excercises are.

I did not try the one with the plastic insert. but face and neck excercises are fantastic. They gave about 10 excercises to try.

If you see it buy it. it really works. can't say enough about it.

My sister freaks out everytime she sees me. I look younger than her and she is 10 years younger in age than I am.

I read that part of the reason facial wrinkles develop is that the muscles are connected to the skin, to form expressions with.
I know Pamela Anderson does facial exercise (she wrote about it in Jane Magazine) she's looking allright. She's a vegetarian too, which I'm sure helps.
I'd like to do more massage to improve circulation, but my skin breaks out easily and I think the friction and contact might make pimples.
Oh no, I'm going to give myself wrinkles worrying about this ; P

Well for me i have read many books about facial exercise. The major cause of wrinkles is the sun. Frown lines, facial expressions. Collagen breaks down slowly with age too, i.e. saggy skin.

I have never tried them, but reading made me wonder! Hmm.

Now that i hear some of you ladies do this and they do work, i may give it a whirl!

How often? And how long before i see results? Any books that you find good? I have been through many, lotsa said they only stretch the skin and cause frown lines....

The internet is conflicted with these exercises too...

    Thanks,

    Pamela

A couple of weeks ago..I did a search on ebay for those little contraptions. It sounded intriguing..I did a little more research. I finally found the link that made me think it really wouldn't do much.

I also agree with Pamela and see that there are conflicting answers on the net So I think this must be a case by case basis..maybe someones face shape may take to them better than others..or whatever... so it couldn't hurt to try them. I think I will go ahead and start doing them just to see. And a one and a two...

I was doing the exercises in the "Facercize" book for a while (before I got lazy... oops) and I definitely noticed a toning in my under eye area and cheekbones. Could just be that the movements help move any fluid that might cause puffiness out of the tissue but... I did notice a difference. The link on Amazon has tons of customer raves. Also, Whatshername on yestheyrefake.com was saying she had good results from one of the facial exercise programs.

At first you do them about 3 or 5 times a week. Now I only do a full set facial workout once a week to maintenance. Also If my eyebrow starts to sag I just do that one once or twice a day. Once you are toned you will not have any problem.

you skin rejuvenates every 28 days when you are in your 20's as you get older around 30 you skin renews itself 30 days we'll say then longer. That is why you need to use glycolic, enzyme or chemical peels to start you skin renewing at a shorter pace as opposed to a longer one. when you are in your 40's you sking takes longer to renew.

it's been scientifically proven that the more glycolic or enzyme (removing the dead layers of the epidermis) you skin will heal quicker and healing is renewing skin cells.

you also have to get collegen facials vit c facials and such to keep you plumped up and lines will be diminished.

I use a colegan blanket every week
