Winsor pilates is great, but the best all around workout tape is this one:

I teach Pilates and will swear by this DVD.

I use the Firm videos as well. I find it to be more for tonning without very much cardio though (I jumprope and spin to get that.) To be honest I didn't really find the sculpting stick to be that necessary. The weights are really what is key and has given me killer definition and tone. But don't start off with too much weight to begin with, start with little or even no weight. If you don't have the proper form down you won't get the full effect or worse yet you may injure yourself. If you are in resonably good shape you may find these tapes to be too easy for you in a couple of weeks, I find the older firm tapes are actually harder than the newer ones (even though they wear funny 80s clothes in them.) Also, you can always add more weight.

I have never tried Winsor Pilates but I have had Pilates classes at my gym and find it rejuvinating.

Thats the point. Push yourself for a couple weeks, and I'll bet you that you'll get stronger and more defined. Once you reach a plateau, it's like a graduation. It gets addicting.

Hey, if you get it, let me know what you thought of it.
The "super advanced" routine is insane. If you can do that, you truly are a goddess!

Yes, yes, yes!!! This is so very true. That man (Rodney Yee) pulled out the can of whup ass on me the first few times (I was literally lying on the floor wheezing the first time, afterwards, and not in a good way), and there were some points in the video where I just said, "No, Rodney, my body just does not bend that way. You go on without me," and I did like the intro said, I just repeated the previous series of poses that I could do without needing to go to the ER. I can do all of it now (although not always perfectly or gracefully), although it's still quite the workout. I think it's so terribly important with the yoga, or any exercise video where you don't have the advantage of an instructor helping you in person, to listen to your body. When it says "Oh shit, this is BAD," you've got to back down.

I used to have the Firm tapes, the older ones from the mid to late 80's and they kicked much ass in my opinion. I loved the weight training workouts and they really helped me tone up fast. The cardio kicked my ass, but then I've always been a bit slow to pick up that side of things. Definately improved my whole body look/feel after about 3 months or so of using them. But then I moved out and my friend kept them and I haven't been able to find anything but the new ones.

So I was up waaaaay too late last night (the side effect of sleeping in all morning after NYE) and saw an infomercial for "Yoga Booty Ballet." Now, I love informercials, but I did the unthinkable and ordered it at 1:30 in the morning. LOL. Never bought off the tv before, but it just looked like a fun workout. Warms you up with Yoga, does the cardio with some booty shaking dance stuff and then the strength training with ballet moves. If you are already in shape it may or may not actually be much of a work out, but it looks like a fun change of pace kind of thing to break up a regular workout schedule. In any case, I'll report back once I've gotten it and tried it out.

I do Rodney Yee's Power Yoga too. It's good and challenging. It's a long workout, I think 1 hour 20 minutes.
I also do AM/PM yoga, Yee does the AM section in it. It's more for relaxation and a bit of flexibility though.

I can do PowerYoga without a problem except the back arching up and supporting the weight on the toes and hands at the very end. Those are tough. I can hold it for about 2 seconds rather than the appoximately 15 seconds he holds it for. I liked that after that video my neck felt very loose and relaxed- there's quite a few neck stretches- but alot of yoga is like that too.

It's amazing, when you go back to the earlier Yee workouts that you used to struggle with, and thought you were gonna die because of, they are so ridiculously easy. But that is the thing, the more you push it, the more you can do. Before you realize it, you're in the best shape of your life and you crave more. It's never enough. But there are still things I can't and wont do. I'm 6'7 and 235... the inverted handstands in some of Yee's workouts are impossible for me. Having all that weight on my wrists is no good and the ceilings in my house aren't high enough.
I mix Yoga, pilates and weights and I get all the results I need.

But I'll recommend Yee for anyone. He'll kick your ass into shape in no time. As long as you don't give up.
