Default Hair Product Recommendation AND Chi Question

I really like Matrix Sleek Look Iron Smoother, in the orange spray bottle. It costs $15 but worth it. It really protected my hair from being fried with my low-cost ceramic straightener.

That being said, do ya'll think its worth it to invest in a Chi? When my hairdresser chi's my hair it looks fucking amazing. But at $120, is it worth it?

My #1 beauty expense is my hair. Hell, $1500 + for extentions is a pretty shiny penny!

The CHI is great Im so happy I bought and I take very good care of it. Alcohol swipe it when its off. But, the only thing I worry about (although I have seen no effects from it) is that it only has one heat setting: ON. Which, I thought was wierd.
My old hair straightner (a Hot Tools gold flat iron) made my hair curly after I went outside. When I use my CHI I have yet to have that problem. It helps keep my hair nice and straight against humidity. I have that Matrix flat iron spray too. Although, for my hair type I use Redken iron smoother comes in a little brown see-through bottle. I also sometimes use Phyto straightening balm.

They have these new jade irons out...They look really cool...but I'm hesitant to spend the money on one to get it. Maybe I'll try the Chi...I've heard so many great things about it.

I had spent over $100 for a blueish, slender flat iron called the Blue Sapphire. This does keep my hair straight after working w/ it. However, after a while, it made my hair very dry.

Two months ago, I went to Target and bought a $25 ceramic Conair flat iron. This iron is a message from the Gods!!! My hair has never felt so smooth and stayed so straight even in windy and highly humid conditions. I go snowboarding in really cold conditions and it stays straight.

As far as heat protectors go, I have tried Hot Iron Works by Sebastian, some staightner/heat protector from Bed Head,Beyond the Zone's Turn Up The Heat and finally, a heat protector, (can't remeber the name) from a company called Ion. I don't need much, this stuff will last forever. I have fine hair w/ lot's of volume and curls so too much would weigh it down.

I swear by these products. They are the HG of products to me and I get tons of compliments on my hair, which never happened very much until I found this iron and heat protector.

    Cheers,

    Corey

I have a CHI, and YES, it is worth the investment. On the original CHI, there is only one heat setting which is like, over 400 degrees. The trick is to keep the iron moving. One glide along the hair is usually enough to do the trick. I use Aquage Beyond Shine to protect my hair from the heat. AMAZING stuff--it leaves my ultra-curly hair so shiny and silky and not fried at all. It has alcohol and silicones which are usually drying, but for some reason this stuff has never dried my hair out! I highly recommend the Aquage.

I would agree with erotica! But,What do I know,WHAH AH HA!If I were to suggest a straight iron better then the CHI,I would get the maxius at for a better one...BTW.I own a CHI! I paid 90 for dollars the 2 nd one! Then I found a more advanced an advanced Ceramic then the CHI and found this to be a better ceramic Iron,It's cheaper , I don't know the website, but,it is something on tv...www. shopathome.com? ...Good Luck!It is healthier and lasts longer,no doubt! When I find it fir 1/2 the price I will give it to you just in case you are interested...

Wow I didnt think there was something better than the CHI! If I break my CHI I will definitely keep this in mind. And one of the chicks is dark looking! I never seen brown people in flat iron adds.

I didn't think that there was anything better then the chi .I had spent alot of money on a CHI right before this one, but,I found that this one(Maxius) put's moisture in the hair shaft!More then I could imagine !If you think about it,A steam button is a brilliant idea.If you order it now from shop at home or go to their website it ius half the price!I just wish that I haven't purchased the CHI(which is the next best thing)If I would havre known about this one,It is also ceramic, and was designed by a scientist,It has ceramic pins to comb the hair while straightening it,It looks like this,The hair products that work well are rusk str8,and Farouk's biosilk.I believe that the matrix hair products work well also,

the ionic ones are supposed to be the best, but aren't they like $400?

I understand that some of the ceramic irons are ceramic painted on top of metal. The CHI is all ceramic. I'm sure there are others.

Hey, gurrrlz. Because of the length & damage potential, I use only "straighteners in a bottle". The very newest in the hair straightener tools, is one w/amethyst/tourmaline ionic properties, apothia.com, Fred Segals site.

I have an ionic hairdryer.. I had a major hair disaster a year ago when my shoulder length hair was cut wrong by a stupid woman who thinned it too much causing it to become weak.. I have a natural curl to my hair so it looked stupid if left curly (that's how much bulk she took out).. and combined with swimming, my hair started breaking.. I had pieces that literally broke up so far that I had "holes".. I had to get very creative with wearing my hair there for awhile.. I have very thick coarse hair, and thankfully no one could really tell except for me and my hairdresser, but still, your confidence after a hair disaster falls thru the floor!

I threw away all my old irons and things because my new hairdresser said that all I was doing was harming my hair more.. so I bought a Chi, and didn't use it for a good two months because I needed to get my hair somewhat grown out.. began taking those walmart hair pills (which btw worked wonders) within a month I was able to start using styling tools again, I bought an ionic hair dryer, which I highly recommend for a couple of reasons:
    1. The heat is not as hot or damaging to your hair, and the ionic molecules actually dry your hair as if you are "air" drying it.. my hair is so soft and shiny all the time..

    2. I promise you your hair will look and feel different using this type of hair dryer.

In March it will be a year, and last week I went to go get my hair done and my hairdresser said, "I think we are all over the hair trauma!!" I was so happy!

I did try that Matrix stuff, and I did like it, but I found something I liked better that you put on your hair when its wet, then blow it dry by catwalk, called Fashionista Smooth and Shine. Its in a purple and blue bottle and sells for 13.95. You can use it on wet or dry hair. Personally, I like using it on my hair when its wet, then I don't have to dry my hair and then put something else on it, wait for my hair to dry again and then use my Chi.

I will never use cheap products or go and get my hair done without giving them a lecture first about what NOT to do to my hair.
