Before saying this I want it very clear this is not an insult or belittling any military personel or of the incredible job they have done and are doing.
I was raised 18 years as an army brat and sat in the meps station on my 18th birthday to start my fair share.I was 13 mike MLRS.My father, all older uncles,my brother and my sister have all served proudly.
There is no monument in D.C.,to include 3 names on the Wall ,that dont rep someone in a past generation of my family, both sides.
I am very proud of the military and support them 100%,so please dont turn this post into suggesting im lessoning them or what they are doing now.
This is just sharing info.
I collect Coca Cola stuff and have done it for almost 30 years.I have got alot of junk if you ask my SO but to coke people, its a purty good collection of rare and vintage stuff, some of it has even been put into popular coke collecting books.
Anyways...
Certain Coke things are saught after more then others,as in collecting just about anything.Topping the list for coke collectors is signs, coke santas, seltzer bottles, etc. One thing that also tops the list is war time coke.
Since WWII,coca cola has kept up with the front line, even running bottleing plants in occupied areas just to be sure the men had coke.
Even enemy encampments have been taken over that contain cases of coke, coke gets there sometimes, before the army does!
Its even traded as money during wartime.
sounds crazy i know, but its history and a fact.
Its like the hershy chocolate bar,American G.I. comes bearing chocolate AND a can of coke(and budweiser back at base camp). It can almost be said that winning thier hearts and minds starts with a candy bar and a coke.
Coke even makes signs, cans, bottles, and promo items in the native language of the occupied country in an attempt to get them hooked on the real thing.
These items are what im talking about and only 1 kind of person can really get it,the grunt doing the hump, thats right, the front line soldier.
Even bottling plant mgrs and coke mucky mucks here with the gear cant get the stuff because its all done overseas and on the fly by temp bottling plants.
I know its morbid. But every war produces it.
War time coke memorabilia.
If you know someone who is there, tell them to grab everything that says Coca Cola on it.Every sign they see, everything that has arabic writing and coke on it,even newspaper/magazine ads and send them home.
Right now the market is being flooded by the arabic bottles, they cost alot to ship home and wont really be worth alot in your lifetime.Alot of people are doing it right now.
But the signs will imo.Just like all the wartime coke signs from all the other wars we have been in over the last 75+years.
Get the stuff with as few folds or bends as you can,put it in a safe place for 10 years. Then you and you soldier cash it in.
Might not make ya rich, deff wont be worth the time apart, but might pay for a week or two in vegas or something.
I know,freekin morbid.
