    Default **warning**rant**warning**

So Saturday was the weirdest Saturday I have ever seen, dead as all hell. Okey dokey, not a problem. At the end of the night, I am trying to
hustle a regular customer for some $$ and my DJ, who is sitting at the other end of the bar, starts mocking me in front of the customer! WTF?!? I haven't even tipped him out yet and he thinks this is going to get him a bigger tip how?? (BTW, I didn't get the $$ because of him.) So I bitched at him to knock off the shitty attitude and f*ck off. This ended up escalating into a huge fight(not physically) and me telling him that he can wait until the next time I work to get his $$. He tried telling me that I was fired unless I paid him that night, which he can't even do. After calling the manager and talking to him about the DJ's inappropriate actions and constantly shitty attitude towards the girls, I am not fired. I have yet to work with him again, so we will see what happens.

In my opinion, the DJ should have be suspended. He insulted another club employee in front of a customer and he cost the club potential money. The customer, undoubtedly, came away from the club with a negative view of its staff, due to the DJ's actions.

Yikes, the most that happened with a DJ I wasn't fond of awhile ago was a new girl was being shown around the club, it was early, no customers yet. He was reciting rules to her, and one of them was that while talking to/dancing for a customer in the bar, you can't touch him above the knee. This rule isn't written down anywhere, so I'd gotten into the habit of squeezing a guy's thigh while asking for a dance. Nothing terrible, and not touching his crotch or something. anyway, didn't know, stopped for the most part after being told that was a rule, I think I slipped up twice. Anyway, he's telling her the rules and mentions that one and say "and -insert my name at the time- is famous for breaking that one, I swear she's fingering their balls or something." WTF?? Loudly, enough that I or anyone within 15 feet could hear it. What the hell must that new girl have thought of me?

Thats flat out rude!!!! Wow...one great way to burn up a potential tip for himself. DJ's are there to create a monkey making postive club. He was definitely not caring about his job. I hate it when stuff like that happens. Never happen to me though. Someone needs to be knocked down a size.

fingering their balls?? LOL I'm sorry . Maybe the DJs were just trying to amuse themselves. I guessed they'd rather be amusing than get tips. They're lucky you didn't call them out about playing the same five songs--while fingering their balls--or something. ...

I think requiring the DJs to create 'monkeys' is just a little too demanding, com'on. [I know what you meant, though]

Most dj's are like that..they think they are a god, and just want to feel important, or do stupid shit thinking that it impresses the girls. Idiots.

That is horrfyingly inappropriate - I would never tip him again. Well, maybe sometime much later, if he had done something particularly great. I have never had DJs who would try to publicly embarrass me - I like my DJs. They're nice to me (at least to my face - and that's good enough for me). That is an entirely unacceptable way to behave.

Yeah. Now. Go kick him in the head! With your heels on!!

yup....he sounds guilty of some serious asshattery. i get so sick of hearing these stories of DJ shitbags making those of us that are pleasant, hardworking, and not there to get laid look bad. it seems we are the vast minority. even if he was kidding and/or trying to be funny.....openly mocking you in front of a customer you were trying to get some "monkey" off of is definitely uncool.

Some DJs just suck. Although I do know of a few decent ones that post here. Funny how they still get more attention from strippers than most customers, go figure.

Yep, and as Mr. Christopher, my esteemed colleague, so aptly points out, these guys are "...making those of us that are pleasant, hardworking, and not there to get laid look bad. it seems we are the vast minority."

If you can arrange it so that you never have to tip this asshole again, unless he licks your shoe in supplication, I would do it.

The problem is, most DJs are so in tune with the prevalent male stripclub employee attitude, that they are superior to the dancers (who are rarely, if ever, groomed for management--unlike the male employees, who have the mental capacity of your average baboon), that they are generally able to do as they please, and still extort money from the dancers they are insulting, or the dancers get fired and or hassled.

God knows the guys my girlfriend has worked with are no exception. If they can manage to actually play music she likes without attempting sexual assault on her, it is a minor miracle.

Good luck, and keep us posted on the results of this situation.

It didn't go too bad. I do know that he received a phone call from our manager that couldn't have been too pleasant from the way he acted towards me tonight. As a matter of fact, I think he was tring to be extra nice. He apologized and told me that the next time I have a problem with him, to tell him. I explained that it was impossible given the situation. It looks like we're pretty neutral right now, but I have a feeling that he was bitched at pretty badly to be kissing my ass this much . We'll see...shit'll buff out I'm sure.

The reason so many DJs might be such objectional people is often due to management and the dancers toleration of the DJ's attitude in the first place.

In my experience, no DJ starts-out as a total bastard. They build-up slowly, over time, with little stuff and then go onto bigger and bigger things until they are total jerks. In the beginning, the other staff just let it slide or even try to laugh it off and roll their eyes at the DJ's behavior. One day, it seems, everyone wakes up and realises that the DJ has gotten out of control with his unprofessional behavior and now they have to figure out what to do about it.

If the DJ is a talented one, they have the problem of deciding whether to reprimand him or fire him altogether. Firing an experienced DJ and replacing him with a newbie is not very appealing. Further, threatening to fire him might not work if the DJ is certain to be able to acquire another job at a different club. The DJ would then feel "fireproof" and laugh off any threat of termination.

One of the best ways to deal with a DJ who's getting on your nerves is to take your complaint to management and to get other dancers who are having problems with him to do so at the same time. Faced with a steady stream of complants from the club's primary means of profit-making - the dancers - management will be forced to control the DJ. The club needs dancers more than they need the DJ.
