Default How often are you asked for your phone number?

As a result of a conversation with a dancer I know well, she actually kept score of the number of times she was asked for her phone number and/or a date over a week. She worked six 4 or 5 hour shifts, and was asked 54 times during this period - around 2 requests an hour.

Is this typical for a dancer?

I get asked once or twice a visit.

From what I hear, dancers get asked for their phone number, real name etc all the time. Thats why they have fake numbers and names memorized which they can give out if the circumstances warrant it. Its understandable that they get very very tired of hearing the questions.

Funnily enough, none of the customers want my number. I walk around and offer it to them, even. All I get are funny looks...

I dunno, I've always taken the standpoint (not just applying this to SCs) that if it's not offered, it's not worth anything.

About once a night, on average. Though I've noticed the younger the average age of the crowd, the higher that number can go.

Same here, but the numbers they give me never work more than three months. First the voicemail says something unusual like, "I dropped my phone and can't see any of the numbers, so tell me your number in your message." Two months later the carrier message says the number is temporarily out of service. Two weeks after that it's no longer a working number. Then I get a "private number" call that says, "Hi, I'm using my girlfriend's phone today. I really need to see you." I think this is the real reason why the "regular cycle" only lasts a few months.

Most creative request: "I lost your number. Can you give it to me again?" I never gave it to her in the first place.

I will add that my ATF has kept the same number for more than two years and never missed a payment.

I've been asked for my number a lot. I mostly give out the Rejection hotline number that Vaden mentioned. I think I'll start giving out my 92 year old neighbor's number....She seems kind of lonely.

Being asked for her phone number so frequently hacks my dancer friend off, but there's a reason for it. She knows the importance of eye contact, and will catch and hold a guy's eye intently for 6 - 10 seconds during a dance. I laughingly call it her "smouldering look".

What she does, (and originally it was unknowingly), is mimic the signal a man and a woman give out when flirting at the start of a relationship. This tends to get her a lot of private dances as the customer on the end of the "smouldering glance" tends to think it's for personal rather than professional reasons. Add a couple more "smouldering looks" during the private dance and the average bloke thinks his luck's in and asks for her number, etc.

I always get asked for my number, and even when I say no they keep asking. So I made up an email I give out. I don't care, I check the email and just laugh. there they are again asking me out and trying to get my number in email. I've never thought of counting though.

SC etiquette 101: Never, ever ask a dancer for a cell number. If the number is not freely offered, then it has no value. It's also a violation of good customer behavior and is borderline intrusive and presumptuous.

SC etiquette 201: All dancer cell numbers are two-line entries, sometimes three. Stage name, real name, other real name. It gets complicated. Keep the names straight and let them do the calling.

SC etiquette 500: graduate seminar. What do you do if a dancer jumps up, runs into the dressing room and gets other dancers' phone numbers for you, unsolicited? Nope, it's a violation of 101; you can't call them. But it is a sweet gesture.

i used to. but i have a website now & when asked i just give that out. i use it for my schedule so people know when to come & see me. i usually just say that i have a house phone & a roomate with a hot-tempered bf who is very controlling & accuses her of cheating frequently. i tell them that if i gave out the number, it would make her worried about me & would piss her bf off.

I don't get asked nearly as much anymore. When I was a newb they would ask several times a night. Since I've taken on a persona of high hustling professional, most are too scared to ask me.

If I see regular potential, I will get their number and maybe not throw it out. Last time I gave me cell # the dude called me several times a day for over a month. Fucking psycho. No more.

I think I get asked at least once for each night that I dance.

That's strange, this pink site's blue for me now too! And all I did was visit the blue site once, it must've been one of those cookie things...

This is really annoying to me. I had this customer spending money on me one night and at the end he asked for my number. I was tired so I came up with the lame excuse "maybe if we talk a couple of more times, I barely know you". I was not attracted to this guy at all, in fact he looked like howdy dowdy. A couple of nights later, he walks in and waits for me to come over. I'm thinking we're going to do the same thing as the other night, no he talked to me for 5 minutes and then said "well, you said if we saw each other a couple of times you'd give me your number, can I have it. I want to take you out". Absolutely pathetic.

I think phone numbers very much depend on how a relationship develops between you and a dancer. I don't make a habit of asking for dancer's numbers but I have three at present - each of those is/has become a friend.

One number is where a dancer and I struck up an instant friendship. We bumped into each other in a UK strip-pub one night, (as opposed to a strip club), and just started talking. The converation lasted 5 hours on and off and we figured it was appropriate to exchange phone numbers at the end of it.

One number was where a dancer and I had been bumping into each other on and off for several months. In the end she asked for my number. We both live in the same area and she was not adverse to finding out if I was going to the particular pubs she worked at so I could give her a lift to/from them. It started out as mutual convenience and slowly broadened into a friendship.

The third was again where a dancer and I had been meeting each other on and off for several months in varying strip pubs and quite enjoying doing so. We unexpectedly bumped into each other in a shop and found we'd given each other a big hug before we thought about it - again exchange of phone numbers seem appropriate.

[I've been refused twice as well. One dancer was frankly stringing me along with the promise of her phone number the next time I saw her - (and it was always the next time). The second time was with a dancer who always enjoyed my company when I turned up while she was working, but wanted to keep our relationship a 'professional' one - case of me misreading the signals.]

In the case of the phone numbers I have the relationship, (which is purely friendly in all three cases), extends well outside of their work. All three for example pop round to my house for a drink and a meal every now and then. Suits me and suits them - we enjoy each other's company and we are quite happy keeping things on a purely amiable basis.

Same thing happened to me when I gave my number out once. Now I wouldn't say I never give my number out, but I'm very, very selective of who I give it out to. I'll only give my cell number to a customer who not only spends a lot of money on me, but also doesn't seem like he could turn into a stalker or a nutcase somewhere down the line. I could count on one hand the number of customers I've given my real number out to within the last year.

I usually get asked for my phone number about once or twice a week. Usually I say "I don't give my number out, but I'll take yours." Then I'm not lying, because I said I'd take their number, I never said I'd call it. lol
