Angry Career day, 8th grades, & Stripping

    http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...ents_stripping

Okay after reading this what do all of you think? I as a mother of two girls would be outraged for someone to suggest this to my daughters. Yes, "dancing or stripping" can provide a good or great living, but going to college is a great life long plan. Many of us are dancing to provide or our families and to pay for college. Many of us would not have the means or time to go to college if it were not for the income that dancing brings us.

So what is everyone's opinion of this?

Well it was unusual to add that into his speech. It is taboo ..but it's true. Although he's not entirely right about the bust size being the reason that dancers make $$$. He could of stated it differently. The fact is... that strip clubs and strippers are out there. They are moms, sisters, friends, daughters. I think he was brave in mentioning that career..but he is getting reprimanded for it also. I don't think he was wrong in my opinion. My 2 older daughters could tell him a thing or two about stripping. I just get sick of "stripping" being a dirty little secret that should not be mentioned. The only thing I would change is the ages of the kids. I was 11 in eigth grade and would not of had a clue what he was talking about. I think that he should of done it for a high school crowd instead.

Actually, this would be a phenomenal topic for both a mathematics course and for economics. jobs...careers...health benefits....consistency...planning...unions... job security... savings....etc. As many have pointed out on here, it is not uncommon for someone to make a very lucrative living with dancing...but it is not something that you can typically do up to the point of retirement. If you can only work a third as long, then you'd better be making 3 times as much. Good education fodder. But no one would ever use it. Too afraid.

There was a book out called "The $100,000 Club" or something to that effect. It discussed various jobs that could make 100K or more - it was authored by someone different (a woman if I remember right.)

Dancing was one of the jobs.

Dancing is a legal lucrative career. It might be out of bounds of him not to mention it.

    What a moron.

There's nothing wrong with stripping, but it's an adult topic. It's not appropriate for that age group. It'd be like telling them that they can make good money tending bar, or becoming a plastic surgeon who specializes in breast enlargement. Sheesh, where do people's brains go sometimes?

They will probably do for stripping what they did for guns.

And at one point I thought Australia was associated with freedom.
