    Default Shower water filter

Anyone ever use one of these? You attach to your shower head, it filters water. Or, even the ones that go on your sink faucet. Where I'm going w/this is, I drink bottled water. The tap water here, is major clorine smelling, who knows what else? I'm more concerned about washing my long color treated hair w/it. I mean, I stay out of swimming pools for that reason, not the same high amt. in my tap, but it's up there. No matter what conditioner used, if the water sucks, it's not gonna be that great.

Ive used one of the ones for the tap water for the sink. I use PURE I think it worked great. It would be cool if they made ones for the shower. I have to change the filter every 3 months. The water here is crappy too. I have learned to adjust but its still kinda gross. I think the water out of the tap is worse.
The one I have was pretty inexpensive it was only like $22 includes 1st filter. I used to have a Brita frig container and that worked great till I dropped it. The tap one is better is you dont want your dishes washed in funky water.

I use a filter on my shower head and the cleaner water makes your hair and skin much softer.I recommend it,immensely.

The water here in Albuquerque is overly chlorinated as well. I happen to have a mild alergic reaction to having repeated exposure to chlorine, after a couple of weeks of I develop a mild rash on my arms. I tried shower filters, but they would clog up after maybe 60 minutes of total use. The PUR water filters for the sink work great though. Perhaps it is because a much smaller volume of water goes through it.

What I ended up doing was getting a filter where the water enters the house. This is replaced monthly and it does an excellent job. The company that does mine is Culligan. The initial installation cost was a few hundred dollars, and it is about 20 per month to replace.

Oh yes i have "Pur" on my faucet only mine must be different from TigersMilk, mine has no e on the end. Probably mine is a cheaper version. But it makes hard water soft.

I also have a showerhead made by them. It is very soft water!

I drink filtered water with the Brita fridge pitcher and would love to get a shower filter. I have an allergy to chlorine too and my eyes burn and itch in the shower something fierce! Anyone have experience with the one above? How often do you change your filter? I know it says six months but I like looooong showers so I'm thinking I might have to change more often. Any other options out there?

Investing in a shower filter is one of the best things you can do, IMO. My hair was always so lank and boring...I had no idea it was being weighed down by all the chemicals and excess minerals in the water. I've moved apartments quite a bit since I first got mine and I take mine with me everytime I go.

Aww, thanks a LOT, all. I'll prob. end up getting the sink facet filter. I think they're about 50.00, here, @ Walmrt. Like to get the shower one, but I can be a real f*kup on even a simple simple "instatalltion". Thanks again!

water in UK is extreamly hard...make my skin so dry and cause scalp itchy and leave funny stain on the bath tab surface. I was wondering why "this expensive hair conditioner/ facial cram doesn't work?" but now I got a clue..water..isn't it so simple and closest thing with your body?

I just got a brita for my sink and it works great. I've been considering one for my shower, I was at sears about three weeks ago and they were not that expensive. Every time I take a shower, before I use shampoo or anything, (no gels or hairspray on hair to rinse out) My eyes start to burn really bad if the water gets in them. Doese anybody think a filter would help?

Sure, it certainly would seem to. From reading this thread, it seems lots of us have lousy water. You can check what it says on the pkg, about removing cholrine. Or, they prob. have a toll free # or web site to ask if it works on cholrine.
