Default My foundation looks red under black lights....

The heavy black lighting in the VIP room at my club causes my face to look very red, like I have an awful sunburn. Since the rest of my body looks fine, I can only guess this is caused by my foundation.

Does anyone else have this problem or have you been able to find any products that do not change colors in black lights?

I have tried probably half a dozen different kinds of make-up but have had the same result....grrrr

Are you using a lighter foundation or a color that matches your skin? I would suggest using a dewy or "brightening" foundation in a shade lighter than your skintone.

I have very pale skin and I use fake tanner on my body and face for work, but my face still seems lighter than the rest of me, so I use a slightly darker foundation and bronzing powder to match. The shades look continuous in regular lighting, but under the black lights the makeup turns a funny color.

Maybe I'm OCD about it, but I think it looks weird.

I suggest a heavy dusting of shimmer powder on top of light foundation- or getting exact foundation color matching at a department store cosmetic counter. I understand how this might make you self-conscious, sometimes special makeup doesn't look like you'd hoped under stage/ UV lights.

Revlon Skinlights would perfect for you, they come in many different shades from light to dark and can found pretty much anywhere.

I never see red under the black lights and I use Loreal's "visible lift"

    It's great, a line minimizing make-up with pro-retinol A and spf 17 sunscreen.

    Good-luck...

Guys ask me all the time if Iam sunburned. When I look I dont think it looks red. But I notice whoever is fairskinned looks this way. I think it might just be that and whatever we wear we will still look a little red.

Hmm, maybe it is something that fair skinned girls have to deal with. Two of my girlfriends at work encounter the same problem and they also have light complexions which they darken with fake tanner & makeup.

I guess I will continue my search for a foundation that works, maybe I will pick up some of the L'Oreal you suggested Vaden....

    Thanks for the ideas girls!

I think that foundations with SPF do this, but I think it also has to do with skin color, because I've seen guys faces do the same thing in the VIP rooms, freckles are VERY evident under the blacklight.

i know this thread is a bit old now, but i've got this problem too. i didn't really mind it when i was dancing last, because i wore foundation on my whole face. but now? now, i've been using just concealer and powder, which looks way better than full makeup in natural light. unfortunately, this makes my otherwise well-covered imperfections look like huge pink glowing zits. i washed off all my face makeup when i noticed this and just applied powder and blush, and under the blacklights, my skin looked flawless.

my point...see how you look under your club's lights with no makeup, or just a little powder, bronzer, and/or blush...it'll probably look great.

I noticed at my old club everyone glowed red or purple... everyone except this one girl who it turns out uses NARS foundation. I switched to it and have had no trouble since.

Good to know, Veronika. I may have to try NARS b/c I am still experiencing the red-face effect.
