I've worked with 3 female managers-one was ok, one was a total bitch, and the one I work with now is great. She's very pretty also, better looking than most of the dancers, actually. She's friendly, very professional, and doesn't play favorites. As for why there aren't more female managers and owners, I couldn't tell you. I don't really prefer one gender over the other, it all depends on the person. I've worked with good and bad male managers and good and bad female managers. One of the advantages of having a female manager is that they're not likely to try to get into the dancers' pants (not saying all male managers are like this-most of the ones I worked for were great.)
There is a female manager at my club. She's pretty new to it, but she does a decent job and she's fair to the girls. As long as a manager does their job properly, I dont care what gender they are.

I'm in agreement that if the manager does their job properly and professionally.... then I do not care what they look like esp. gender. On topic of this thread tho' I do currently have a female dancer manager who is incompentant.... VERY incompetant. She does play favourites and basically should've been fired a loooooooooooong time ago yet she is still there. *sigh*
If she was working as a manager anywhere else... she would've been fired yet this is a strip club run by people who have no experience with hospitality, strip clubs and/or nightclubs.

Female managers/ club owners....are just as exploitive and dishonest as men!!! Ha ha.
It's an "old boys network" attitude that keeps women down in this industry...I HAVE worked with a few great female managers, but the writing's always on the wall- you can't assume on anything....("When you assume, U make an ASS out of U and ME.")
At my old club in DC one of the day managers was a female. She was pretty good at her job, but it was fairly low maintenance since it was a stage-dancing club.
One of the managers that was brought in to open Hustler in Baltimore was female, and she basically lied to me about my contract and kept trying to get me to bring friends of mine to work there. She probably went back to St. Louis or whatever other club they brought her in from temporarily.

The female manager I had at my old club wasn't a good example, way too many mood swings. Would scream at everyone night and be the best friend another. And nobody ever stayed fired! Grrg! Even really messed up stuff like beating up a fellow dancer in the dressing room or in front of customers or leaving the club ON shift with a customer! They'd just call her, cry about their life and get re-hired!

I had one that was great... she was an ex-dancer, so she understood our needs. She had
written rules (not ones made up on the fly or enforced off and on), fair tipouts, etc.
Unfortunately, she was stuck with very restrictive laws and low-hustling dancers. She brought
me in to show them how to hustle... but only a few seemed motivated to actually earn some
cash. I had another one with mood problems and ultimately I was fired even though I was the
club's top money-maker. So she seemed very lacking in business sense and was known to be
hard to work for. So it is a mixed-bag. In theory a former dancer should best understand
how to manage dancers, be on our side and not let us be abused by customers, etc. But
in practice, they do not always have the business or management sense necessary and may
let favoritism get in the way.
i LOVE the ex-dancer managers, sure they have something to prove, but they know how to talk to us!
One would come up and explain the new rules calmly and apologetically, since she would have hated them herself.
The male managers would say, "If you have a problem with it, you can leave."
Which one is better?
They don't last very long though, I think it's pressure from the owners to do a "better" job than the male managers. Which is BS, just because you were a dancer doesn't mean you can fix everything wrong with the club. I think they get tired of over proving themselves.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..
Working for a female manager/owner is a good thing. I suppose she helps out the dancers more, cause she can most likely understand where she is coming from on a female perception. But then I have also noticed that they can cause hell. When you place a female with power in a bad position she will take it out on everybody that stands in her path.

Like VG said, guys do the same thing too. Except when men do it they're called "decisive" and "good businessmen" and when women do it they're called "bitches" and "cunts". Go figure...![]()

Delilah's here in Philly is technically owned by a couple, but the woman is definitely the one in charge. the GM is a woman now too, as is the office manager. but theyre both complete fucktards, and that has nothing to do with their sex. the owner though....we had our differences but she was pretty cool. gave a very "motherly" type vibe to me all the time. i dont really know if it matters what gender the manager is....it all depends on if they know how to do their job or not. it also helps if theyre not just a braindead violence prone bouncer who somehow swam upstream thru the ranks and got the job.

Does anyone have any recommendations for breaking into management (gentleman's club)? From what I see its dominated by men and doesnt appear to welcome females into this role. Short of visiting a club and speaking with the owner to feel the club and the management out, how else can a women get into the management side of this industry?
Aye, agreed with most of the responses, bad managers can come in all shapes and sexes - just that the female ones, being in such a minority, are considered "examples" so the bad ones stand out so much more!![]()

In the past I have only worked under two women. The one I didn't know that well so I really can't make a comment there. But the woman I work for now used to feature across the country and her husband is a dancer as well. She knows the business and knows how good/bad it can get. This helps alot as far as being flexible with girls. Plus she tends to hire girls that have never danced before, rather than girls that have danced in other clubs. There have only been a few exceptions to this rule. But I agree bad managers/owners can come in all forms.
I dont really like working with female managers. So far I have found them to either be overly harsh or they get a drink or two in them and compete for customer attention.
I guess this sounds bad.... but I'd rather work for someone who thinks with the little head on a regular basis. It makes for a better balance of power for me. Plus men tend to know a bit more about what other men like than a woman does
A lot of the clubs in Montana are owned by women. Fred's lounge, Sagebrush Sam's, and Planet Lockwood all have a woman at the helm. Moulin Rouge is owned by a couple. Buffalo Station, Teaser's, Shotgun Willies, and The Playground are ownedby men, but I think Shotgun Willies is managed by a woman.
Many clubs are now publicly traded so I'm sure that there are plenty of women that buy stock in these corporations, maybe not even knowing that they are buying strip club stock.
But, Alas, like so many businesses in this country, very few are owned by women.
I worked for a woman manager in Amsterdam. She was pretty cool, but it was a different type of stripclub. I've worked in something like 14-15 clubs total and can't think of a single one where a woman had any more authority than a housemom. Of course some housemoms powertrip too LOL!
I believe that a dancer would have to be loyal to one club and stay there for many years bringing in revenue through customers and bottle sales to even be considered. That's quite a tall order since most clubs don't seem to encourage much dancer loyalty.
I would love to own a club one day! Anyone wanna go in with me???

It's a mixed bag. I've only known a COUPLE of women who were in "management positions" (not actual general manager, but other management jobs) in clubs, and with ONE exception (I'll tell you about in a minute) I got the following impressions:
1. Female managers were more honest and less slimy than male managers.
2. Female managers were less easy to manipulate.
3. Female managers could see thru dancer bulls--t, but were VERY less likely to spread manager bulls--t, if you know what I mean.
4. Female managers understood the dancer mentality a lot better, particularly toward customers. Male managers, for the most part, never could quite get themselves to view customers as nothing more than walking, talking life support systems for wallets.
Now, for the ONE exception....
One club had a female accountant. She was actually an accountant for the family that owned the club, or something like that (I never got it quite straight). Anyway, she would drop by maybe every other day or so to go over books. ANYWAY, even though she was w-w-w-a-a-a-a-a-y-y-y not the "stripper" type, she was totally a stripper wanna-be. She never said it, but you could tell. She desparately needed to looose weight and take some dance lessons (for poise and posture) but always wore really tight, short skirts and see-thru tops to the club and really "TRIED" to fit in, but absolutely didn't. She never could get over looking like an overweight mid-30's accountant who had gone shopping in the teenage section of a Wal Mart. Don't get me wrong, she was a GREAT girl, and I loved talking with her (very little, but in passing, you know?). Looking back on it, I wish I had told her one day, "Hey, do you wanna dance? Lemme get you into the gym with me 4 - 5 mornings a week for a couple months, and we'll have your ass out on the stage in no time!"
.....but I never did..... Sigh.... sorry.
The sex was so good, the neighbors needed a cigarette!

I saw a great closed down location in Vegas, just south of downtown right at the beginning of the strip, not far from Olympic Gardens. BUT the last thing Vegas needs is a new strip club LOL!

I've worked for 2 in the past. One was an angel and extremely professional, the other was an ex-dancer who was envious of the girls and made our lives hell until she was fired.

Yeah you're so right about Vegas. I was thinking of Alaska or somewhere in the midwest, but I have never worked at either of those spots. Maybe one of the dancers can provide more insight.Originally Posted by Katrine
