I go to an Ivy League university, but I feel that when I tell most customers where I go to school, it makes me seem too normal, boring, or girl next doorish. The reason they ask it is because they want to know what brings me to such a small town in the first place. Also I don't feel comfortable with giving out so much personal information. I want to make something up, like tell them I'm breaking into adult film or something. I don't say I live in the town, because that's also boring and because they might start asking where exactly I live. Any ideas?

If you don't want to say you're in school, though, say "nah, I'm not a student this year, probably next year" and then say you've applied to a lot of schools and haven't picked one. Then follow with something like "com'on, studying is boring, lemme teach you some human anatomy with a dance!" or something, I dunno. Usually I just say what classes I'm taking and then chat about them.
