    Default Confessions of an overplucker

I've been plucking for years....never had a professional wax. Over time, I got carried away and my brows are too thin. I'm trying to thicken them up. I have not been plucking for two weeks now (yay!)

I feel like I'm overcoming an addiction. I know there are other pluckaholics out there!

Well maybe not pluckaholic try shaveaholic. For about five years ive been shaving my eyebrows completely. I was never a fan of plucking. The reason why is because I got my eyebrows tattooed and i never really liked my own eyebrows. Recently I've been letting them grow out, its been maybe two weeks since i shaved them. I'm undecided whether to continue to let them grow out or not. What I really need to do is redo my tattoo.

Hi, My name is "Rose", and I am a pluckaholic. It's been three weeks since I took my last pluck. It's become an obsession and I am determined to quit!

We'll help you get through this, Emily!

Oh, *tears* I've found more people like me!! I cannot walk into the bathroom without picking up my damn tweezers. Even when I had my eyebrows waxed...I would sit with a magnifying mirror and diligently pluck any stray hairs. My eyebrows are a little too thin...but I've been plucking for so long...they don't seem to want to grow back well...eyebrow powder has become my best friend.

    Just say NO to plucking!!

Wow, I litterally just came out of the bathroom after plucking my eyebrows...How ironic is that, I too over pluck (when I pluck) I tend to go 2 weeks and then have a plucking spree!!!!

I had a esthetician tell me that plucking releases endorphins. So it isn't our faults ladies! It REALLY is an addiction!!!

I do have a tendency to overpluck. Some of my friends are way worse than me.

I am too an overplucker. I use to be obessed about it. I would buy different types of tweezers- slant, point, etc. Then I would bring out my mirror that was 10x and sit there with a light next to me that had a true color bulb so I could see everything. Lucky for me I have naturally brushy untamable eyebrows that will grow back no matter what.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

How funny is this thread? I overpluck, too. This last time I went on vacation, I spent like, 2 hours in the guest bathroom, plucking. I even picked up a new pair of tweezers at the store--so I was able to quit using theirs!

OMG you guys! I plucked mine yesterday (they needed work) and touched up this morning! I looooooooove plucking my brows. I do it every week, with touch ups in the middle. I just can't get away from my two tweezers (2 in case I loose one). I use stainless steel ones with a square tip, they work well. But I think mine are too thin now, i was looking at some pics of me from 5 years ago, and my have they changed!!

My name is Kat, and I'm an overplucker.

Once you start its hard to stop. I've been getting them waxed when I get my bikini wax. This way they all get pulled out evenly on both sides so that when I have to maintain its harder for me to make myself look like Vanilla Ice...ooooh yeah I just went there....Ice ice baybeee!!!

Not always he best idea for some girls. Controling a razor and not losing a half an eyebrow alone isn't always easy.. And some girls (like myself) have gotten ingrown hairs from shaving eyebrows. Lemme tell you, Shit like that on your forehead isn't concealable... No matter how hard ya try :/

They have nifty little electric hair removers for bikinilines/eyebrows/upperlip/etc on the market - I know most drug stores carry them. I've found mine to be one of my best tools when I'm really delayed on a good eyebrow waxing.

Stop the madness! I am a reformed/recovering over plucker. I used to have the thin Mcdonalds arch brows. My man used to kiss my eyebrows because he felt bad for them...they were starving..they were thin. Here are the Steps to recovery:

Step 1. Hide the tweezers..start to let them grow in. Yes..you'll feel bushy in some places but when you work..luckily its darky and the stray hairs can be concealed by concealer. Any weird strays..its ok to pluck.

Step 2. After some growth but still waiting for more to come in ...just pluck the ones that are not even close to the brow line...that's it though.

Step 3. Go to a proffesional. Have them wax it..they will know what shape is best for you. You'll walk out a new women. And if you don't want to keep up with a proffesional ...just pluck and follow the shape the estitician gave you.

Its not a long road ....but it can be done...there will be a week there when you may feel you have warewolf brows..but don't get frustrated. Hang in there! Good Luck!

Stop plucking!! I'm not an overplucker (I do pluck though) but my mom and boyfriend really are big pluckers. Anytime my mom's in the bathroom for a long time I know she's plucking and if she can't find her tweezers she freaks out. She has the expensive tweezers, and magnifying mirror she balances on top of a lamp for extra light. My boyfriend has a big habit of plucking his face when he watchs tv-(no mirror he just feels for hair). He never shaves but plucks almost every hair out of his jawline beard area- it's probably a few hours a week plucking. (Shhhh- that's a little secret though.)

i used to have the same issue. in fact, i have trichotillomania, so it used to manisfest in pulling my hair out, then moved to the brows plucking madness, now i occassionally pick at my eyelashes when i'm stressed.

old thread, i know, but theres a serum from Nioxxin that grew my brows out in about 6 wks. so rad.

ahh! i used to have that too!! only with my hair i had bald patches all over my head by the time i was 23, took me a year after quitting to get rid of my wig/hair extensions. even after quitting i sometimes do it under severe stress. Nioxxin?? i'll have to try that out, there's still a slight patch way down low that hasn't completely grown out.

on the over-grooming eyebrows thing, when i have gone through extreme distress or pain in my life, i notice that those babies are manicured and pencil thin! now i have grown them back out to be lush again, and promised myself to never overpluck! the older you get, the thinner your eyebrows, so if you do it over a certain age then they will have a very hard time growing back at all

I am SO bad about this, omg. My eyebrows look terrible, honestly I will leave the house without foundation/mascara/whatever but under NO circumstances will I leave without doing my eyebrows because they're so freaking thin!

It's really hard for me to not pluck too because when I see the one stray hairs... omg I can't let it go! I wish that when they grew they would grow out more evenly but mine don't, I know I just have to let the hair be but it drives me fucking crazy. I've been like this for the last ten years, lol!

I keep my brows looking good! Usually touch up every couple of days. But thin eyebrows are not pretty imo. I have old pics of myself where my brows were too thin changed my whole look. Google it thin brows aren't sexy. I have mine styled so they go into a point at the top like Marilyn Monroe . Brows are important don't over pluck. Good luck in your recovery lol.
