A few years ago Dallas Dancers was known as Kages On Kings, and had a particularly bad reputation. Unfortunately, this seems to have stuck even after the re-naming of the club and management change over. Like every one else, I had heard the stories, but I needed a change of scenery and applied in order to gather my own opinion of the place.
Nikki is the Dallas dance manager, and as she is an ex-dancer herself, she's very firm yet fair. When I applied I spoke to her, and she gave me and the friend I was with an application form. The form is about 3 pages long, with a lot of questions that really don't matter, but I get the feeling it's just a formality. We were asked if we would like to start that night, but had other engagements so I started the next week.
The club's decore is a little tired and far from upscale, but it's very clean and has a casual and relaxed atmosphere. The change room is downstairs, and has a shower, toilets, fridge and lockers ($10 deposit per locker). Baby wipes, mints, and light snacks are covered by your house fee.
The girls can be a little stand off-ish at first, but after a while they warm to you. I have copped a few snide remarks, but that's to be expected in 99.9% of clubs. The majority of the dancers are all very lovely. I haven't seen any one get overly catty or drunk, and if drugs are done at Dallas, it's well hidden. I'm yet to see a dirty dancer or witness any one offer extras, either.
Each dancer does a 15min podium every hour to hour 1/2. Unfortunately tipping is not common, but if you can get at least one young guy to tip a $5, most of the group will follow his lead. A table dance costs $20 for 5min, but if you don't like doing table dances, you don't have to.
The lap dances are $20 for 5min, and $50 for 15min (although every one cuts it a 'lil short). The dance room is a little shabby, but there are plenty of seats so there is no waiting around.
There is a solo feature show at 11:30pm, a 4 girl strip at 12:30am, a double act feature at 1:30am and a solo feature at 2:30am. The feature shows are paid by doing 'jugs'... grab a beer pitcher and walk about the room, asking for tips. All that change they throw you adds up, and most feature dancers can expect to collect about $150-$250 per show. The 4 girl strip is a set fee of $30 per girl. These shows really get the crowd going, and the money starts to flow a litte better after the double act![]()
Thursday is known as 'Fantasy Thursday', where each dancer needs to dress in a theme outfit. The dress guide lines for other nights are very 'what ever'. I'm finding it a little hard, because most of my outfits are costumes, and we can only wear them on Thursdays... looks like I need to go shopping for generic dance wear when I get the chance!
As there is no dress code at Dallas, and the entry is cheap (around $5), the club is almost always busy, and the clientele is very varied. Because of this, the range of dancers is fantastic. Punks, Goths, Barbies, mature dancers, curvy girls, etc. There is some thing for every customer, from the business man to the glam rocker. I get the feeling that this may be why my earnings at Dallas have been so consistent; I am not in direct competition with so many similar looking dancers.
I hope that's covered the basics. If any one else has any questions, just let me know
