    Default Women's magazines

So I was trolling in the Ladies Only section and came upon a thread about Cosmo.

I don't know why anyone would read that shit and take it seriously. The mere fact there is a section about "His Secrets" should be enough to know it is bullshit.

I don't know a man alive who goes "Ooooo! I gotta write Cosmo about this!"

And big news flash - he like's his dick sucked. Duh! (OK, maybe women should read THOSE parts of cosmo.)

My ex subscribed to US and lemme tell ya - it is about as far from us as far can be. Nothing but movie stars and their $5,000 purses. Yea, I can REALLY relate to being in that crowd - that is US alright. Out walking on red carpets and being fawned over at events or going on spending sprees with our Centurion American Express cards.

    Puleeze!

If you spend to much time looking at what other people have got and you don't - or fantazing about an unreachable lifestyle (and they say guys are the big fantisizers) - no wonder one can feel like shit.

I think these magazines are killing America. Fucking Anna Nicole Smith making millions cuz she has big tits and a diz attitude. We are fucking rewarding THAT? That is right there with millionaire basketball players while scientists and engineers watch their jobs go overseas.

OK... I am getting to dazzled up right now to continue. Besides Stargate Atlantis is on.

Deogol.. I see your point completely.

I haven't read Cosmo in years, because then I finally came to the conclusion that the majority of subscribers are fat, lonely women who actually need tips to find a man, or boost their self confidence. The editors and staff of the magazine are just as bad, if not worse.

In general, I don't read womens' magazines. They're a bunch of crap anyway.

The only magazine I do read on occasion is "People". It's entertainment for me, especially all the pictures (Star Trax?) where they catch "celebrities" in crappy outfits and looking like hell.. Heh.

I used to read Cosmo, but they had a couple things in there that pissed me off. Once in their Sexy vs. Skanky section, they said that it was sexy to take strip tease classes, but skanky to actually be a stripper. Then they had an article about dancers about a year ago which had a very negative slant to it and basically implied that many dancers were sexually abused when they were young and that many dancers do extras in order to keep earning big money. Now I won't read Cosmo anymore. When I did read it, I never really followed their beauty and fashion tips, it was just something to read to keep me from getting bored on long bus and plane trips.

I am guilty of reading US and even National Enquirer once in a while. I like to hear the gossip on celebrities, whether it's true or not. I'm not obsessive about it though.

There's a few women's magazines that aren't awful...Jane Magazine is the big sister of the bratty Sassy Magazine from about a decade ago. Glamour Magazine has some very good editors, uplifting stories and fashion tips, not BS.
Cosmo has been around forever....maybe its day has passed.
Actually, I love to read MEN'S magazines, both for better insight into the male mind, and hot guy models (my sister, cousin and I were all ogling the "Military Man Workout Plan" layout in Men's Fitness a few months back...LOL) Men's Health has great writing.

Hell i get em all. But, don't take most of what i ever read to heart any way. Just kinda browse through them, fashion, make-up etc. Nothing more really.

However Cosmo is to women what Maxim is to men.....useless reading for the most part. And glossed up pictures.

Women's magazines can be a great source of laughter for a guy when he is at the laundromat or waiting to get his hair cut. Why is it those budget haircut shops have subscriptions to Cosmo, Seventeen, etc. but have only one ratty two year old issue of Golf Digest or something for their male customers. (What's more ironic is that I've never seen a woman under 40 get her hair done there).

One thing that I've always found very peculiar about women's magazines is that they all have some strange number of tips for something on the cover. "50 Ways to Have Fun With Your Man", "67 Mindblowing Sex Tips". "92 Ways To Put the Romance Back Into Your Life". Yada, yada, yada.

In any case, these magazines have gotten so fiercely competitive for subscribers that they'll think nothing anymore of preying on their readers insecurities to get them hooked, kind of like your local ABC affiliate leading off the 6 o'clock news with a story of a bus crash.

Yes, I've talked to more than a few women who claim the "How To Get A Woman into Bed" advice in rags like Maxim is every bit as bad. I usually go straight to the glossed up pictures myself.

Yes - Maxim is a joke. And if the pick up lines/ploys/how to be cool works on the woman, I don't want that woman!
