Help i've just entered a pole dancing compettion only to find out it will be held at a club with static poles and i have never used a static pole.

So if any one has any tip it would be greatly appreciated. Also any ideas on an outfit would also be great. I'll be dancing to the power of love- frankie goes to hollywood

    Thank you

A static pole is one that doesn't spin on its own? If it is what I think it is, then instead of just jumping into your tricks you have to build momentum by walking around it at least 1.5 times, then do your trick as you would on the other kind of pole.

well i didnt know they were called static poles but that is what we have at my club and i do a lot of pole tricks. not to brag but id say im the best. its not hard at all bc the other night i went to a club that had poles that spin and i prefer static poles. i thought the pole was broken! lol. they arent hard.

I like both poles, spin poles or not. A spin pole just makes the work look easier, as you keep moving no matter what...talk about dizzy, but fun. Whew

Poles that don't spin are fun too, but more work. Wear boots, they will stick you to the pole for leg work, and use alot of upper body strength. I noticed when i hit the pole i do so at a fast walk to get my speed to grab and open up or wrap. A nice handstand with legs wrapped around the pole is nice, then open them slowly and close, then tip back over to a stand.... Gosh there is so much you can do with a pole.

Use is as it was a spinning pole, but wear boots to stick better.

There is a book on the market called "The S Factor" that is basically a workout guide for non dancers, but it does have a nice section on pole dancing for a non rotating pole.

I always danced on a spinning pole, and when I tried one that didn't spin, I looked like a total dork until I learned a different way to work it. Stuff that looks cool while you are spinning may not work on a non spinning pole.

As far as winning the compitition, it is all political. Even if you do have a great show, you might possibly lose to the girl who is more popular at the club you are performing. Try to gain popularity in the club that the event is being held in by campainging as if you needed to be "voted" best pole dancer. Having a custom made costume, specially mixed music, and a unique theme couldn't hurt either. Then you just need to reherse you act daily until the contest date.

I'm getting ready for contest season as well. I love the compitions, and the creativity that it awakens in me. I spent too much time last year focusing on the shows themselves, and not enough time campainging and building a base. This year I will be taking out adds in the local strip club mags as well as in the Alternitive papers in the area. I am also hiring a choeragopher (sp?) as well as a personal trainer- I only hired the personal trainer last year. I mixed my own music last year, but I think I may use a DJ this year for smoother sounding transistions and added special effects. I know who my compition is and what they are capable of, and I just need to be better.

Not all compitions are about giving the the girl with the best blow jobs the prizes. If you work hard you can win these things w/o performing sexual favors for the owners/judges. You also might want to check out some of Fawnia's stuff as she specialized in compitions.

Good luck, and go get them girl!

FYI: Wearing boots will help you stick to the pole more easily, but in some pole competitions the judges will take off points if you wear them.
