    Default cervical cancer

My brothers wife has cervical cancer and wont go to the obgyn for cryo surgery. My brother is worried about her. I guess shes afraid it will hurt or what not?

What will happen if she just doesnt go? Could she die? Get really sick?

Umm... I don't think it is very good to just ignore cancer... even if it hurts to get rid of it.

Tell your brother to pack a bag for her and carry her over her shoulders and say, baby,I love you,That's why I'm doing this and taking you to the hospital.

I don't know what the long term effects are. I only had abnormal cells that the Gyn was afraid might turn into cancerous cells. I had cryotherapy (I'm guessing that's what you are referring to the freezing off of cells/ there is another procedure that can be done, not sure the name but they scrape the cells) and yes it did hurt when they did it and I cramped for a few days after, but It wasn't anything too major.

Like Hardkandee said, It's not a good idea to ignore it. It could spread or maybe worse.

Yeah I had abnormal cells removed too. It didnt hurt at all and only took like 15 minutes. Tampa if she doesnt get this done the cancer will spread to other organs and possibly the lymph nodes and by then it could be to late. Someone needs to explain this to her.Even if the cells are only pre cancerous they need to be removed for the same reason. Good luck with this.

Cervical Cancer. Well.....Hmmm. It depends on how far along it is. cervical cancer starts off with dysplaia and then later forms into cancer. It can sometimes be resolved before turning into cancer but the chances aren't high for that. If it's goes without treatment, She'll have to get a hysterectomy. It can also progress into a different type of cancer (which can be scarier) called carcinoma which can spread.

She can die if it spreads but it's not too much of a 'deadly disease' ....Many have survived throughout it due to a pap smear.

But back to your question. She MUST go to a doctor.

Sometimes 'waiting it out' will kill you quicker.

She really needs to go. When it comes to your health, it is ALWAYS better safe than sorry.

Most of the time the OBGYN will give a prescription for pain medication if asked after cryosurgery. Depending on the OBGYN she can ask for twlight sedation or valium. It is important also that she knows what stage her cervical cancer is at since there are different treatment options. I'm guessing since she is having cryosurgery she is at a cancer in situ level which means there are other treament options such as:
    Loop electrosurgical excision procedure
    Laser surgery
    Conization
Internal radiation therapy for women who cannot have surgery

The problem is that the stage in which her cervical cancer is at can change which means is is deeper than just the first layer cells in the cervix. Once the cancer is at 1A it is pretty much conclusive that a total or radical hysterectomy and radiation is the course of treatment.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

If she's that afraid of the pain maybe she can insist on anesthesia. I had a biopsy that killed me and I swear if I have to have it again I want to be put under no matter what the cost. However, I would think that any type of cancer should not be ignored and she must go to the doctor.
