    Default Thinking about foot surgery

I have a very hard time buying shoes because of my "pinkie" toes (I don't know what the proper term is) and as a result I have to buy shoes that are 2 sizes too big. Legthwise I am a size 6, but widthwise - 8. Stripper shoes are even worse because they're always open toe, and HAVE to fit nicely otherwise it looks totaly weird. I can't wear size 7 shoes because my whole foot slides right out of them after the break-in period.
I hate boots because they leave bruises all up my leg at the spots where you lacethem and zip them, also I have to wear ventilated shoes, otherwise they are stinking garbage after 2 weeks.

So I was thinking of getting some kind of surgery to narrow the foot, or at least the "outer" toes.

Has anyone had surgery on their feet? How long does it take to recover?

Anybody in Ontario know if ohip would cover this?

Never heard of those problems. I would just say get extra wide width in the shoes, or see if anyone makes stripper shoes that are wider, I donno. Or if your option is surgery, Im sure someone else will have good advice.

They make things to slip inside the shoe that you can stretch the foot area with. Take the shoes to a shoe doctor....

I'm pretty sure OHIP wouldn't cover it - you're sure that there is no way to find shoes that fit you?

I have heard of foot surgery. I dont know any good doctors but I did see someting on TV that they did a surgery to shorten this woman's toes. It was amazing to see them getting done. Of course it hurt but then end result was that they were cute and tiny toes. She wanted to get it done b/c she had long toes. Hmm might work for your situation.

There's a thread around here somewhere about custom-made stripper shoes...it might be a better idea to do that- the money spent on surgery and recovery time will probably be more than the extra $$ for custom shoes...
