Default Are you favorite dancers working?

I am planning to go to a club that I attend regularly but I don’t want to go unless my favorite dancer is there, this leads me to my question. Is it ok to call a club and ask them if a certain dancer would be there on a certain day? Would the club mind, or will the dancer mind?

No, most of the clubs I know don't mind and in fact they incourage it. They want you to keep a regular schedule so that if someone is asking for you and you are usually there, then you really should be there. It's a plus for you as well. I have customers call all the time but most of them know my schedule anyway and I follow my schedule. Why would you want to loose guaranteed money? I also know that at such and such a time, Tom is coming, then there is Dick at 11:00 - LOL, and Harry at 1 a.m. I like the fact that I know on certain nights who will be there and I count on them.

Nobody should mind that; I do it all the time, because schedules don't exist in Minnesota (seemingly).

    BUT.....

Be careful of the club that will tell you whatever just to get you in. I used to go to a club that was 40 minutes away. Now I never had a problem, because I just about knew everybody there so when I got the itch, I could get it scratched easily. But I know people called to see if somebody was there and they were always answered in the affirmative. There were some pissed off people that had drove 45 minutes to an hour to get there only to find out that so-n-so wasn't working.

Better to call that day, best to call after the shift has started so you can be sure that the
dancer will be there. Lots of us girls don't always show up when we should and some have
flexible schedules which can change due to weather, personal business, etc. You could
even ask at the door so you don't pay a cover charge for nothing. Bear in mind that the
dancer could be running late or excused for a couple hours to do a private party, etc.
Sometimes the problem in large clubs is finding the dancer. She may be in the backroom
getting ready for her stage or in the VIP room, etc. In that case ask a waitress or bartender
or the DJ or another dancer. Some DJs will even page dancers for you. Most important
is to know their stage name... just asking for a blonde girl won't be enough.
P.S. You ought to tip anyone in the club who helps you out like this. (The dancer may
    even tip them as well.)

I know my club usually doesn't give out that information, I guess for the safety of the entertainer. You'd think it doesn't matter, because she feels protected from the club. I guess it matters to the owners here.

Now I have seen it both ways...

On the one hand you have clubs with published schedules (either on the Web or somewhere in the premises), or who will tell you if a certain dancer is working.

On the other hand, I know there are a lot of clubs who will NOT tell a caller who is working and who isn't. Partially it's a safety thing (to scope out the RILs and stalkers)...but also it's a business practice. If I will only go if Dancer X is there, of course they're not going to tell me she's not...because that is one less potential customer.

Personally I don't think it's a big deal either way; I will say that more clubs are cooperative in this sense and will either post a schedule or tell callers the schedule when asked over the phone.

Amen to that one!! I drove and hour and half two weeks ago, and my friend had called earlier to see if my ATF was going to be in, and the person who answered the phone said yes. This was after the shift had started. I got there, and she had taken the night off. I had $200 with her name on it. Hd to spend half of it on my back-up. Hopefully she'll be there tomorrow night and we can make up for it.

My home club is pretty good about making sure that if they say a particular dancer is working, she usually is. The only exception to this is if the dancer was supposed to work that night, but for one reason or another could not make it in.

You've had good answers so far in the thread.

At my home club, even published schedules on the Web are not always reliable -- there are call-outs, substitutions and floaters who come in for doubles on stage -- and this is for a club with a very strict schedule. No matter what published line-up I see, there are always changes that night in the club. Hence, that wonderful invention known as the cell phone. They call or message me to tell me their schedules.

Etiquette tip: Let the dancer offer her number if you want to go this route. There is nothing more obnoxious than a pushy customer in search of a cell number.

Sans the cell number, calling ahead can work, but as others have observed, there is no margin in the club discouraging you to come in, so be prepared for a little BS factor.

Call on the day you want to go and wait until about 30 minutes into the shift change. By then the DJ has a list of every girl who is actualy there. Published schedules don't mean a whole lot. Even a dancer telling you she will be there doesn't always mean a whole lot. Part of the appeal of dancing as a career choice is the felxibility of scheduling that it affords.

As some have entioned, there are still clubs that will tell you someone is there when they are not just to get your ass-and your money-in the door. It's always good to have a plan B. I met my ATF that way.

Whenever I find a new favorite dancer I usually ask her if there is some way that I can find out when she is working. Usually the girl will suggest a way - she'll either give me her cell phone number (a lot of dancers have separate cell phones just for this purpose) or email address or she'll ask for mine. If she isn't willing to give me a way to communicate with her I'll usually find myself another dancer. When I visit my current favorite, we make advance arrangements by phone so that she knows when I'm coming and she's always there waiting for me. Which is partly why she's my favorite dancer.
