    Default Exercising 2.5 hrs/day?

I saw on Extra I think that Jessica Simpson was working out on the treadmill for like 2 to 2.5 hrs a day, 6 days a week for her role in Dukes of Hazard. That sounds really excessive, but I think she looks awesome. Anybody here ever work out that much or reccommend working out that much to achieve those results?

I think if you're doing aerobics that much it's okay...but not 6 days of like weight lifting. That will tear your muscles apart and they won't be able to rebuild. Also, you should only exercise that much for short periods of time, like if you were just doing it for a movie role. It shoud definetely not be a year round regimen...

I wouldn't reccommend it. That's really pretty crazy. Got to be really hard on the joints as well. When I'm home during the summer, I'll go to the gym and do 30 mins. of cardio, followed by about 2 and a half hours of weight lifting. I'll do this 2 days on and 1 day off. I train for a college sport. She's training for a movie. That sounds really rough though. If they're asking Jessica Simpson to lose weight, there's something wrong with this world.

Well, she is going to be receiving several million dollars for her role, so of course its ok.

a person can only work out this much for a period of time. Fitness models and bodybuilders do this to get cut but will only do it before a major event then after slack off a little. I asked my spinning instructor since she does about 2-3 hours on the bike a day, she told me if you really watch her she'll only really ride for half of the class. Over exercise for a long period of time will just bring on injuries that is why with most sports there is an on season and an off season.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Its about time we saw you around HoneyGymGirl......anyways I would think that its ok only because if your monitoring yourself closely. If anyone has seen those shows that its a game to loose wieght? They have people monitoring every morsel of food that goes in their mouth and how/what they do in their workouts. Their workouts are looooong too and they loose like 7 lbs a week!!! Thats crazy....but to keep fit and look good I would think its ok as long as your not hurting yourself and keeping proper form.

I am a workout-aholic but not overweight--I mean hard core training about 2 hrs per workout and a min. of 1 hour which includes cardio and weight training 3-4 times per week and I rarely lose a pound, I try to gain muscle which makes my body look fantastic and I eat normal food.
To lose 7lbs. a week, you would have to be significantly overweight, it's very difficult to lose weight if your body truly feels it is comfortable where it is ( it's super easy to lose weight if you are heavy). And if you do manipulate your body to lose (when you are pretty slim already) by cutting out loads of calories, it is SUPER easy to put the 5-10lbs or so right back on as well as being taxing on the immune system. Bodies like to maintain a comfortable weight and will fight you all the way to maintain that healthy weight.
Putting on muscle is weight gain, but it makes you look like you lost alot of weight without restricting too many calories--which in turn keeps your immune system rocking and your metabolism nice and high, and that's what we all want.
So ladies, pump some iron and you'll look hot in no time and if you eat balanced meals-not too much sugar-you'll rarely get sick

I mean, I do cardio 50 min- 1 hour a session 5 days per week and weight training 3-4 times per week for about 30-45 min dependant on which body part.

What they probably did not mention was her workout with weights. She needs to get in better shape they said, as Katherine Hack (sp) the original, was toned but thin. Jessica has too much weight on her the news said one night. Now i see on friggin tabloid covers she is getting too thin. I saw her on TV a few nights ago, and she looked the same to me, except her ass looked flatter. Dunno.

    Right on...

just keep in mind that you have to burn 3500 calories more than you take in to lose one pound .. we all should keep that in mind the next time we reach for that extra cookie.

3500 calories!!! that's 35 miles of running to burn one stinkin' pound!!

An hour of cardio, 45 minutes weights & solid stretching works out to 2 hours. That seems pretty on target with what fitness competitors do. Jessica has a beautiful body, but movies aren't like photo stills with lots of airbrushing. Pulling off those daisy dukes with confidence is a lot of work!

Personally, I like hearing that celebrities work hard to look good. I'm so sick of models stuck on a cocaine & coffee diet bragging about how they eat anything & were just born looking perfect. Ya right!

I use to work out alot and I miss it I have been trying to get back into the habit again . My income tripled when I was working out hard . I did my own little warm up routine to get my blood flowing for about an hour and to get me in the spirt then I did a 45 min yoga routine then I would do 45 mins of high energy low impact aerobics followed by ALOT of sit ups all different kinds to work every muscle and also I would add extra things for my problem areas that I thougth needed extra attention like my inner thighs plus I would do some weights I would end up working out for over 2 hours . Sometimes now I do 30 mins of pilattes and with a strick diet that pretty much is all i need to look decent but if you want to look like halle berry in catwomen or whoever you think is hot then you have to work for it because no matter what they say they work out hard and follow very strick diets . I guess it does look worth it since they pull in 12 million a film or album or whatever xoxoxo I just started my mom on a Trim -spa diet because I have seen 1st hand amazing results from it . Anyways good luck ladies and keep it healthy .

I work out for about 1 1.5 - 2 hours a day - I do about 20 - 30 minutes of abs then 30 - 60 minutes of cardio or weight training (depending on the time I have) then I usually do either pilates or yoga to loosen my muscles. For me its worth it - I love to eat and I'm starting to see ab muscles and calf muscles.
But I'm not sure how healthy it is. How much are you looking to lose, or are you just doing it to tone up?

I only jog (2 min fast walk to warm up, 8 min jog, 5 min fast walk, 10 min jog, 5 min cool down) about a total of a half hour a day, 4-5 days a week, and I seem to be losing weight just by doing that. I dunno, maybe if I worked out longer I'd see results faster, but in two weeks I've slimmed down a TON (On top of taking Tonalin) I should prolly lift some weights, but I never have time to make it to the gym (I jog on my treadmill at home)
