Just feel like I eat too much (about 1700 a day), and exercise 3 days a week.

that's not to much, just as long as you don't go below 1200/day, also depends on what kind of exercise your doing. the lowest i'll eat a day is 1500 but i've been indulging a bit lately...

Thanks Schea! I wasnt sure how much is normal anymore. I used to have really twisted eating habits, like eating 1000 calories a day and over exercising. I still have friends that are like that, and when they tell me they never eat more than 1600 or so a day, I feel like a piggy!! But I know someone at my gym who says 2000 - 2500 a day is normal?? That sounds like too much to me? Or is it normal

I personally dont have a set amount. I eat as much as I can, as often as I can... I have a super high metabolism, and I've become so familiar with how my body works with it. Besides dancing I walk a lot, and I dont really have a scheduled work out or anything so I tend to just eat more when I over work myself. Everyone is so inividual body-wise, I try not to give estimates or ideas to anyone. It may take longer to do, but to study yourself over a period of time and see how your body reacts to what/how much you eat is a great way to set a goal if that is what you feel you need.

Ok I was reall Skeptical at first too but I have just finished this ebook and I swear its the ONLY book on this topic you will need.
The author has been in the industry for years and really knows his stuff. He blends common sense with science so you never will be wondering again,
"How much should I be eating of what and when?"
It gives you a chart to calculate your calorie and macronutrient (protein, carbs, fat) needs and also tells you why eating too little can have negative affects on your body composition.
Sorry to sound like an advert I just really feel like a light went on after reading this book! Now more wondering for me

Our athletic trainer had a field day with our team not too long ago. He went over the reccommended caloric intake and diet pills. Normal, active adults shouldn't eat less than 1500, or more than 2200. I'm on a diet, and I exercise quite a bit, and try not to eat more than 1700, or less than 1000. Itry to stay at about 1400 or 1500. 1700 seems pretty healthy to me. Also, it depends on what type of calories. Cokes and candies with empty calories do shit for you, while it doesn't hurt to go over on the good calories (fruits, veggies).

I don't count calories either, too much effort. I just try to eat good stuff and allow myself to splurge occasionally. I am totally craving a chilidog right now though, but NO, not gonna do it!

id eat lots and lots ( wait....whats a calorie again?? is that sugar? i eat lots of sugar)
i excercise uhh NEVER...ok dancing at work is kinda like excercising isint it?!
I never count calories, and I eat what I want, within reason. And I exercise. I think it evens itself out. Like the dr told me today that my cholesterol is 150 (very good) and said that my "good" cholesterol should be up a bit more, but my "bad" cholesterol was so low that it evened out. Eh!

It also depends on where the calories are coming from.... not all calories are created equal.
Generally between 1200-1800 is what I cycle between so my body doesn't get used to a set amount.
At the end of the day you need to listen to your body. Eat as healthy as your sanity permits and eat every 3-4 hours.

I eat as many calories as I possibly can! As often as I can. But damn the man, there arent enough hours in the day nor dollars in my pocket to keep up with my stomach's demands!

I have never been able to count calories, it's just too much work to check every product and guesstimate the unlabeled stuff. I try to follow the recommendations in Body for Life. I almost never eat a standard meal. Just smaller portions throughout the day, when I am hungry.
For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you will long to return.
about 2200.. 6-8 meals throughout the day.

I try hard to count some days and others I dont count at all...but I try for 1200-1500 a day depending if I workout that day.

I have no idea how many calories I am consuming right now. I just got back from vacation where I had been eating all sorts of naughty things. When I am on a healthy kick I usually am for 1600 cal. and I write down everything I eat. But I am not very good at counting calories it is really hard when you cook something to figure out how many calories are in it unless it tells you in the recipe.
People still do that?!!! Whatever happened to enjoying eating?! I just try to follow the food guide as much as I can..

Wow...I eat a lot of calories, I don't know how many. If I go out to dinner with a guy, 9 times out of 10, I eat more than he does...
