Default Good Bellydance Song--But What's the Name?

It says something like, "You build me up and you knock me down.....I'm gonna leave you woman, I'M GONNA LEAVE YOU WOMAN!" He also says something like "I've heard it ten times before..." A man is singing the song, and the music itself sounds very mideast--the flute, the sitar, the drums. It would make a good bellydance song--what's the name of it? Thanks!

You are GOOD, mr. christopher! I read the lyrics and they don't even say some of the lyrics I mentioned, and you still knew what I was talking about! Thank you so much. Those are some of the prettiest lyrics I've heard--I gotta dance to that song. Thanks!

Dead Can Dance is always great for gothic style western bellydance, but sometimes its too weird for the strip club......

I heard that song and flipped, then bought every Dead Can Dance CD I could find (secondhand, I rarely buy stuff new, I get a lot more that way). Every time I would eagerly drive home to check it out, hoping to find the distinctive and haunting type stuff I love to play for those rare and special dancers who can use it to full effect. I think I tried three of their CDs.

They all sucked--well, not really, just a little weird for my taste, and nothing I could use in the club.

It is a great song, though--anyone know of any other songs by them that are good, or similar tracks from other bands?

I don't know any of their other songs, although there is a song that I heard a long time ago that might be from them. It sounds like Shakira did a remix--it has a samba/middle eastern beat. Another GREAT song, but I cannot for the life of me figure out the name of it or who sings it, or even the lyrics. I think in Shakira's version, it says something like "Ya' don't have to act like a.....slu-u-u-u-ut...." and it also says "I could've seen it from your first kiss". It's a fast beat song. I'm afraid to try to find the name of it 'cause the last time I went to some lyrics website, my computer caught a virus.

i love all of their stuff, but not for SC or bellydancing purposes really. my fave cd by them is probably "the serpent's egg" from...i dunno 87 or 88 i think. ifyou didnt like what you heard, Djoser, i wouldnt reccomend their stuff then. their last cd "spiritchaser" had a few different elements to it but for the most part what you heard is what you get. baroque and renaissance instrumentation with lisa gerrard chanting or singing generally in a foriegn language, and brenden perry (who i think sounds remarkably like a gothy neil diamond) singing most of the english bits. the only other track i can think of i ever saw a girl do a middle eastern belly dance thing to is "yulunga (spirit dance)" also off the "into the labyrinth" cd. great mellow music though. nice for rainy nights in front of the fireplace.

oh also, i snatched up one of Oakenfold's mix cd's because i saw 2 dead can dance tracks on them and i was all twitterpated that maybe he put beats to them. BUT...nope. he used the originals.

I downloaded the Oakenfold remix called "The host of Seraphim", but was disappointed in this as well. I love a lot of Oakenfold's stuff, but the not the housy techno with really high BPM, like this one.

I did find some good mellow tracks by them, including an interesting collaboration with Bjork.

Curiously enough, "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegroove" is not a common entry in the search results when you type in Dead Can Dance.

Maybe one of the DJ's can name the song-- there is an instrumental by the Beastie Boys ( I know a bit weird-LOL) that is very exotic and cool that might work for belly dancing.

I think its on illcommunications , but not sure. It's a fabulous peice of music which I used to have in my collection but now I can't find it- boo hoo !

Tigerlilly-there are two tracks on that cd that kinda fit the bill. one is "sabrosa" and the other is "shambala" which has some synthed out chanting at the beginning.
