Sad Raising Children On 2Hrs Sleep!?!?

Calling all moms... I need some ideas/advice. I have a 1 year old and 3 year old if you could only imagine. I live about 45 minutes from my work so I dont actually get to sleep until 5am. My husband is off to work and my kids are up at 7am. I am starting to wear down on the cooking/cleaning/diapering/working. Sometimes they dont nap at the same time or I have so much to do I get no sleep. I am considering hiring someone to come in the morning 7-11 to watch kids and clean up while I sleep in a bit. Can anyone think of a better idea and if not then how much do I offer to pay this person 4 days a week. I dont want it to hurt my income too bad. Any other mothers dealing with this? Please help.

You'd probably pay a pretty sum for that. Nanny/cook/cleaner. The worse thing you could do would actually be to check it out. So, go ahead and research it. I know it's hard (my 30 month old did the same thing). But, screw the chores for the day...and concentrate on wearing the kids down. Encourage them to run around and play...and join them. Then, put them both to bed at the same time...and you take a nap with them. I know you won't get anything else done, but you will get a few more hours of sleep...and you'll be connecting with the kids.

I had a friend come over and try to help with Makayla...but, if I'm home, she wants me. She'll come into the bedroom and try to wake me up...jump in the bed. So...I say just forget about doing the chores and spend the day with the kids and take advantage of nap time.

Yeah honey that sucks. I'd look into hiring someone at least a couple of times a week. I wouldn't try to find someone to clean up - just someone to play with the kids for a couple of hours while you fricking SLEEP, you know? You could find someone to come in before your husband leaves to make them breakfast and supervise their morning tv watching/craft doing/whatever they do in the mornings so you can get some continuous sleep, but that will cost a little more because it's early, and they have a "chore", i.e. breakfast. I'd say from 6:30 to 10:30 or so, in your house..... $30 each day?

Now if you wait until school's out and have a teenager come over from say 330 until 630 when you're hubby gets home, they can just play and play and play and have no chores and you can get in a nap, I'd say slip that teenager $15 and it's all good. You'd wanna have dinner in the crockpot or something so you could sleep right up until dinner time.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the replies... $30 is what I was thinking for just watching them.. $50 for cleaning and watching them.. That is a lot of money though. Hmmm.. maybe a teenager to clean and watch them for $30. See- I figure if I am going to pay someone I might as well have them do it all so when I wake up I can make that straight relaxed quality time with my kids before I go back to work. I have to be rested and organized to hold my patience with my angels. Thanks a bunch.. please keep ideas coming. Wow.. I am tired lol.

If you hire anyone to watch your kids....PLEASE get a Nanny Cam! Please, Please. I can't state that enough. I am sure you've heard of those cameras that many parents use when hiring someone to watch their kids. I'd like to believe that there are good people out there that will love and take care of your kids as much as you do. But it isn't so.....

We have a 'sitter' that comes in quite often through the week. I work, and go to school full time. So I am on 4 hours of sleep now.....Depending if she gets sick or not. We pay the sitter around $50-100 for watching/cleaning/cooking.

I know college students are always looking to make quick money, and normally don't charge much for it. Maybe High school students as well.

I know how you feel. I live off of no sleep myself. My son likes to wake up in the middle of the night when I come home from work. What I do is take a nap when he does. After I'm rested, then I get stuff done around the house. Last night I worked so I don't feel like doing anything. I know I need to go to the grocery store, but I just feel lazy and don't even want to take a shower. If you can afford it, hire someone so you can get some sleep. All you are going to do is burn yourself out. Once a month I get burn out. Then I just have to take a few days off and relax and rejuvenate.

Is it possible to alternate your work schedule? If you worked days, that would ease up your sleep and you could still work some nights.

How about checking into programs in the colleges? Like early-education classes? Many of these students would love to gain experience with children and they would also like to get recommendations when the time comes.
