    Default Thich Nhat Hanh

As a young man I lived and worked in Asia.

I became familiar with Thich Nhat Hanh
    a Buddhist monk.

He gave me a copy of the 14 precepts.

I put them up on my office wall years ago partly because I liked looking at them and partly because he has become kind of famous.

As I was evlauating my life this past week I happened to look at them.

I do most of them OK the one that flips me out is:

"Do not look on your body as only and instrument. Preserve vital energies (sexual, breath, spirit) for the realization of the Way. Sexual expression should not happen without love and commitment."

Anyone have an interpretation of the above that would make sense being involved in the sex industry?

You evaluated your life for a week and the only thing you got back was this question?

    Rose baby,
Don't judge a man by his opinions, but what his opinions have made of him. That is really good advice. I put it up right next to the Buddhist stuff.

Are you looking for a rationalization that will fit your needs? If so, I really don't think that's what they had in mind.

I live in Asia right now. Just like people back home, everyone here has their own agenda, and will tell you what they do in order to get what it is they want, including religious folks who seek to manipulate on an energetic (spiritual) level.

My landlord made no waste of time in "getting to know" me because he was "such a kind man", and this included giving me a book on Buddhism which he told me he practiced.

It was all so that he didn't have to fulfill his basic obligations and get the rent off me early each month so he could scam it elsewhere (probably on the horses I wager).

It seems real easy to pontificate and theorise about "god" when you have cut yourself off from the way the world works.

Although the other precepts are wonderful and universal it has always seemed to me that that one was flawed. When I see a beautiful woman or man I think it is a shame to not see them nude.

When I see a beautiful woman I am aroused naturally. I can’t see a loving or rational higher power or natural force being so counter to the nature of man. I have never wanted to harm anyone. I have always wanted to help people. I may not have always done so but that was my intention and I think natural in mankind. I think Hitler and those kinds are aberrations and not the rule. I really don’t think mankind has a real dark side that wants to kill and plunder and rape. I think most of mankind is good. I think nude women are good. I think nude dancing women are even better. I think nude-dancing women dancing on my lap is a great experience and not counter to the laws of nature.

When I cheated on my wife I felt guilty as hell to the point that normally halfway through my slipping around I would take flight run home and apologize.

Now I sell sex and I don’t feel guilty about it at all. All consenting adults and all safe and committed to one another and its fun and open and profitable. So whets wrong with that. There must be some qualification to the precept that I am missing.

"Sexual expression should not happen without love and commitment."... Within your self.

I think your looking too deep into this.. Love your self and all that you are/ do with your mind, body and spirit.
