Yes, but managers and owners might not tell you what the actual, on-the-books laws are. They will tell you what the club's rules are. For instance, I think that on the books in Austin there's actually a 12" distance rule, but this isn't mentioned to dancers. They are told not to do anything "lewd."
Also, this doesn't just vary by state, but by city and county. So you'd need to look for the laws regarding sexually oriented businesses in the municipality or county of your club.
I guess it's just the total disconnect between the laws as written and conduct in the clubs that has managers not telling dancers the actual laws; they don't want to tell some Houston girl about the 3' law and then have her actually trying to do dances from three feet away, you know? This is different in places where the clubs are liable for a dancer's activities, you can bet.
