Default Should Strip Clubs be labeled as torture chambers?

Of course there are articles that are much more explicit in terms of what was done to question the detainees, but it all goes back to one thing that I will term "Convenient Morality".

The attitude that that the end justifies the means is prevalent. "We will bomb the Iraqis into Freedom." We will laud and wail over Janet Jackson's boob and how it offends the family... but's its O.K. to use it against the enemy.

So now maybe we have found the way to legalize strip clubs everywhere. We will call them detainee centers with strategic locations. How can the moral majority argue against patriotism?

    Sexual torture

Just when did but standard behavior for the United States of America? Just where the hell is the outrage?
Female interrogators tried to break Muslim detainees at the U.S. prison camp in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by sexual touching, wearing a miniskirt and thong underwear and in one case smearing a Saudi man's face with fake menstrual blood, according to an insider's written account.

A draft manuscript obtained by The Associated Press is classified as secret pending a Pentagon review for a planned book that details ways the U.S. military used women as part of tougher physical and psychological interrogation tactics to get terror suspects to talk.

It's the most revealing account so far of interrogations at the secretive detention camp, where officials say they have halted some controversial techniques.

"I have really struggled with this because the detainees, their families and much of the world will think this is a religious war based on some of the techniques used, even though it is not the case," the author, former army Sgt. Erik Saar, 29, told AP.
This is way too widespread and too many similar incidents are leaking out for this not to be a policy directive from someone very high up in the food chain. Whomever it was should be fired.

THis would be much the same if we strapped a few hardcore fundamentlaist Christians to a chair and forced them to watch the most deviant sexual performance, knowing full well that with their belief system they would feel that doing so would send them to hell.

I'm seeing many conservatives dismissing this sexual torture as "no big deal". However, it is in fact expoiting the Muslim belief system and plays into the hands of the terrorists who believe the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism is a war against Islam and it's beliefs. Couple that with missionary groups being allowed to enter en force into Afghanistan and Iraq and the already intense mistrust of US policy grows exponentially.

If people think this behavior and the current system of policy is doing anything to end the threat of terrorism, they are simple minded fools!
