Default The poles are killing me!

Hi, everybody. I jsut started in a new club, moving up form a sleezy lapdance bar to a club with a real stage and poles. After a week, I am so beat up that it looks like I fell down all the stairs in the Sears Tower! My right arm and the insides of both thighs are bruised almost black, and my right elbow, which I broke some years ago, is extremely painful.

Do you ladies have any suggestions how to eiter get rid of the bruises, or else prevent them in the first place? I would really appreciate it.

I just wanted to say that most likely the brusing esp. on your knees will be there untill you have built up some scar tissure underneath. My knees bruised untill after I had been dancing for 6 months.
I used to soak in epsom salt which helped there is some kind of herb that starts with an 'A' that is supposed to work really well it is applied to the skin.

Maybe someone else knows the name of it?

Sorry wish I could be of more help

It's Arnica, never used it but I hear it works wonders.

Another thing you guys can do for your knees is dance in thigh high boots. Before I worked at a club where we were required to take our shoes off for lap dances, I used to always dance in thigh high boots, my favorites were the h-2's by tony shoes, they work wonders for preserving your knees. As far as being sore from doing the pole tricks, I find that whenever I learn a new trick, I'm sore for a few weeks til my body gets used to it. Just keep going and eventually you won't be as sore.

When I danced, I just waited the bruising out. Like everyone said, your body will eventually adapt and not bruise. Someone at GNC told me that vitamin c helped you to not bruise, but I dont believe that.

    My 2 cents...
My first month of dancing, I had such bad bruises on my lower back from doing floor work (when I lifted my legs, my spine dug into the stage) customer's asked if I had some sort of tatttoo! Lol. You'll toughen up.

Stay off the pole. Unless you just enjoy it. There's not a requirement that dancers have to be pole kittens.

fake tanning helps to hide some brusies also. Plus any thing like fishnets, boots, etc..

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

Check out the thread I started a week ago called "my knees can't take it" in Body Business I believe. My knees were so bad, the other girls were surprised! It has been a week and most of the bruises are gone - keep in mind that I have been stage dancing every day for almost two weeks now!!

scar tissue... icky. Somehow, thinking about that developing under the skin of my knees as I type this just grosses me out!

Yup! I can feel that my knees are harder underneath the skin.

I have cartliage that is from my knee that has scar tissue around it. It's kind of gross I can move it around and everything. It's actually from years of dancing without taking proper precautions.
