I've always been rather intrigued by James Lovelocks's Ghia Hypothesis, where he visualises the varying ecosystems on Earth as a superorganism that will react to changes in the environment.

The classical idea is that ecosystems are passive - i.e. they are affected by change but do not react to it. Lovelock argues that his super ecosystem actually has the capacity to react to climatic change and modify the effects of that change.

Now, I'm not enough of a biologist/climatologist, or whatever, to have an informed opinion on whether Lovelock's hypothosis is right or wrong - I just wish we weren't generating enough global warming to give his theories a practical test.

Nature has no grand plan for or against us as creatures. Humans are not the center of nature. Some of us only think we are. The universe does not revolve around us, collectively or individually. But nature depends on physical laws which we are still only learning. (I suppose some would say God, but not me.)

Earthquakes and tsunamis that recently occurred are more powerful than any of our puny nuclear weapons. But if each of us decides to destroy our little piece of the world, well, we could make things pretty nasty for each other and the rest of life. But the course of it all would follow nature's laws, not ours.

I already posted something recently about how fragile earth's crust is, I believe, regarding the tsunami. We are living on top of a massive, churning, molten inferno, isolated from it below us by only a few miles of rock, probably a distance of about the max. width of Long Island. If that makes us uncomfortable with the stability of our lives, well maybe we should stick together a bit more.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.
