    Default The Complete Report on Iraq Abuse

    I found this last night and thought that those members who do not feel that the photos that were made public were an example of torture should be made aware of some of the other activites that were condoned under this administration until just recently

    George Bush was forced to condem such act due only to the policy of acceptable abuse becoming public knowledge.

    It is wise to remember that the administration not only knew about these acts but turned a blind eye to them for an extended period of time.

    One wonders if these acts had not been leaked to the press by an honorable American who was privy to the information how much longer these abuses would be deemed acceptable by George Bush and his administration.

    I am cutting and pasting one of the worst acts that appear in this report and I will also include a link to the complete report.

    This is an act that was considered acceptable by the Bush administration as has been proven in the August 2002 memo which included language that allowed for any action to be taken except those that would cause organ failure or death.

    (U) Sodomizing a detainee with a chemical light and perhaps a broom stick.

    To read the full report which includes:

    (S) Positioning a naked detainee on a MRE Box, with a sandbag on his head, and attaching wires to his fingers, toes, and penis to simulate electric torture

    d. (U) Beating detainees with a broom handle and a chair;

    in addition to the above mentioned rape click here :

    A memo, one not even written by the ostensibly infamous Gonzalez, is not policy. It never was policy. It was a memo.

    As for antiwar.com passing for a paragon of journalistic integrity...
    Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

    The memo influenced policy and as much as been said so by government officals.

    The report can been seen from other sources as well if one is inclined to look for it, the anti war website just happened to be where I found it yesterday.

    The report is available to the public and the link does show the offical report from the investigation. If you bother to look at it you will see for yourself.

    It is important to identify mistakes in government and government policy to prevent them from happening again. Particularly so in these cases of prisoner abuse and torture.

    You may close your eyes and stick fingers in your ears if you prefer, but that will not change the reality that abuse and torture was in fact deemed acceptable by George Bush and his administration up until the situation became public knowledge.
