i am taking my first photoset today.
    its a long application process.
if they accept you based on your 1st application there are 2 more to fill out plus model release forms and photocopies of IDs that they need to verify your age. THEN you can mail them your photoset, but even those are famous for being rejected multiple times.

good luck to both of us!

My best friend tried to get on there. She is a very good looking girl. For some reason, she was rejected. Must be really tough to get on.

What do you have to look like to be one? What exactly is it that they are modeling?

I don't paricularly like them because they're a very 'exclusive talent only' place, but if you only want to model for one place in your life, they pay very well. For me, though, I like having some different options.

I thought about trying to get on their site with pics of me dressed up where I don't really look like me. I just wouldn't want my brother seeing me on there. Does it actually pay well?

I'm in the land of Suicide Girls, and they perform all around Oregon and in Portland every week. Let me know what you think of working for them. I have been thinking of getting into burlesque for a while, and these ladies have it right. They are very modern performers.

As far as the modeling goes, you need to have a goth look or a Betty Page type pin-up look. Even if you don't live the goth lifestyle, the look is really all that is important. Good luck to you, and let us know how your application turns out!

You all should check it out! I was going to do it, but I didn't have the time to get gothed out, although I used to have the look.. They have a few blonds with piercings and extensice make-up, but it is mostly punk right now.. I few are over the top and really go all out.

    Try www.burningangel.com instead.

They're the same kind of website (but not a copycat - they're original) and the attitude is way more fun and friendly.
I'd LOVE to model for them (and i have the tattoos/piercings to do it i guess...) but i'm in Australia.

...anyway - burningangel.com is worth checking out!

I remember when I was in the NW there were a lot of mention on some of the pro photog boards re: them. Hunting down that info might be worth the time (it was all online). I remember some *beware* messages over the long term. They got quite the buzz when I was working in the adult hosting and content world, both good and bad. They are excellent marketers. There is a suicide girls journal on LiveJournal (look in the previous posts a bit you might have to scroll to the right to see where to click) with members, models and ex-models on it that is an interesting read. I for one would be very interested in what I was getting into since they seem so possesive of their models. A friend in Seattle claimed they didn't pay well and it was worth "about a cup of coffee in a P-town Denny's". She was a decently known fetish model, tho, so YMMV with that tidbit.

After the rumour hit that they were bought by Playboy (I have no idea if that is true) the up and coming *alternative* sites seem to be http://fatalbeauty.com/ and http://burningangel.com/

LOl, this is SOOO funny i had a female named Missy email me telling me i looked to classy for their site, these people would LOVE you're look ( another magazine, try STUNN or STUFF)....LMAO.

I sent in a couple shots of me nude on a counter with like blood and "stuff" on me...Hell i looked dead, *gross* my friend took it, and it is 1 year old. It was all good fun...But i looked too classy? Oh ok. Also had a BLACK wig on...Ok, i'm confused.

Guess i need to be me. I was not going to post this but the topic came up again about the site, and my friend and i just laughed and laughed....Oh shit....Lol!!!!!

LOL, Pamela! You are too classy for their site... you are just one classy lady period. You have that really hard to find exotic/classy/ fetish thing. You are worth more than they'd pay. I could see you in SkinTwo or Marquis.

If you wanted to go that way, I've heard burning angel pays better anyway. What is the rate at SG, like $300/set of pics? and there is like a multi-month waiting list for the pictures to go up. Blue Blood too (which I've heard has some vague association with Penthouse) pays decently so I've heard. I think the "paying better" thing comes from the basically same rate per set but more oppurtunities for selling sets to the companies. The other thing to consider is, if it is true about the exclusivity SG requires for their models, breaking into the alt-erotica world is easier with more exposure which that situation limits.

For instance, Dita von Teese and Musuimi Max (iamtrouble.com) would never have gotten as far as they did if they had to limit they're exposure. Now most people know who they are and Dita even made Playboy and her clothes are reported on in Vogue. I'm actually seeing (personally) more alt-modeling careers launched through appearances in clothing sites (look at http://www.trashy.com - you'll see familiar faces there) and fetish-cons (where a model has the oppurtunity speak to and pose for many photographers and get her name out).

Now, please don't take this as discouragement. A lot of people love working for SG and a couple have even sprung some careers off of it. I know those girls get some great oppurtunities. All I'm saying is that if you are trying to get a name and career in the alt-erotica scene, you might want to weigh your options and choose a path... just like a girl looking to get into Playboy and other mags has to decide a method of attack.

    Good Luck!!!

Thanks Veronika! My biggest problem....i am lazy..really. Lol.

I have a $1,500 digital here, and don't use it but on my dogs and cars. I have had offers for "certain" magazines but whew i am not Madonna ya know!

I was not looking to actually be part of the site, SG, my friend was more curious! So i do stupid things...Nude with blood looking crap on ya....Gosh.

I am now under SHIT because i have some pictures with a phone sex company i am not with, the other company i do work for wants them down. ASAP. Who the FUCK is playing my character???? I mean, (off topic sorry) Pictures and shit. It's all good fun, until it crosses into you're job/s. Modeling for a mag. Yes i think i am do-able, but not extreme stuff i guess, don't have that look..??? OK. I will keep it simple.

Me...do i ever think. NO. Lol.

    Um, yeah... about that....

That is sort of the reason SG has gotten the rep of losing its "scene cred". It is just another market now... but then we have Hot Topic these days so... Sheesh... Playboy involved in SG...

I could go on with that particular tangent but... I'm an old spooky girl so I'll just shut up.

I think SG is amazing. (It's actually kind of sad how much mercahndise I've purchased from them.)

I think I'll be submitting pictures soonish. I took out most of my facial piercings when I took the pic for myu avatar, but I have both brows pierced, a labret piercing, and tongue piercing as well. I also have a few bodily piercings too that might freak out most people...LOL...so I'll refrain from naming

I hope my piercing obsession will, for the first time in my life, work to my advantage in applying.

shit, they will be thrilled to have you; shakes up their, um, monotone color scheme.

One of the girls I work with in Austin just got accepted; she sent in some very silly, goofy photos. She also has beaucoup tattoos and a very curvy bod.
